My name is Linette, and I will be attending by myself. I'm from NYC (Queens). I've been reading the posts and I'm shocked at how many of you are planning on camping out in front of Irving Plaza. I've never done that, never felt the need to so I'm really curious. Do you think that if I show up early afternoon the day of the show I'll be really far back? I mean, I've been on long lines before but now I'm not sure. I'm nervous hehe.

BTW I was at Irving Plaza this past week for a show and the place is a perfect size so that anyone can enjoy the show (unless you're short). I picked a spot in the second floor and saw everything just fine.

I was wondering how they are with cameras. I saw many cameras at the show I was in, and even some professional looking cameras. Mine is sort of professional so I think I'm going to call the venue and make sure it'll be alright for me to bring it.

I also have a silly question....I'm used to going to metal shows and wear black jeans, boots and tank tops or tshirts. But I think for this show the girls dress up more. What type of clothes are you all going to wear if I may ask?

As for hotels, if anyone is still not booked, I would suggest the hostels. Those tend to be cheaper than hotels and if you bring a group with you the price goes down (it can be $59 a night). The Times Square Comfort Hostel has pretty good reviews. Check this link for a listing of hostels http://www.hostels.com/us.ny.ny.html

There is also the St. Marks Hotel. My friends from Canada always stay there and love it. http://www.stmarkshotel.net/1671525.html

Hi ^^ My name is Mirta and I'm from Peru ^^ nice to meet u~!

I don't think you will be far back, in the worst situation you could use the balcony if there's any and u'll get an awesome view. I doubt there will be more than 200 people at 2 pm of the day of the concert. I went to a glay concert and by 3 pm there were less than 100 and it sold out faster than these tickets are selling. ^^ Also I don't think more than 20 people are going to camp out including myself ^_^.

I'll be wearing a skirt and boots I think cause I'm short T_T like 5' 1" ._.# I guess you can wear whatever u feel like, it's summer after all :D! Always between the moral boundaries =P.

Hi Mirta, nice to meet you! I'm originally from Puerto Rico. :)

Thank you for the tips, they are much appreciated. My train ride to the venue is not long that's why I'm trying to plan out what time I should head there. As for the clothes, since it will be July it's going to be really warm out so I was thinking of mini skirt or shorts, not sure yet. Something comfortable and cute hehe. I watched a show recently at Irving Plaza from the balcony area and yes it is a great view indeed. But I might venture to the front to take some pictures if I end up bringing my camera (which is very likely). :)

Even if the Venue lets people bring cameras most Jrock concerts don't allow them. I highly doubt they will let you use a camera there.

Thanks for the link, I still haven't arranged where I'm staying and lots of those look affordable. It's also nice to hear what Irving Plaza is like.
As for clothes... well, if there's somebody walking around in an ugly clunky orthopaedic boot-brace-thing on one foot and very sensible shoes on the other, it's probably me Icon_smile but my tendonitis should be fixed by then, so perhaps platform-ish heels, cute top, and a skirt or pants (I get cold so easily, it's ridiculous).

I am one of those people planning to camp out, but I've never done it, so I really am looking forward to it. :XD: Personally I always need to be close to the front - it bothers me if I'm not. I would recommend getting there by noon the latest. But that's just my personal thing. I always arrive usually between 10am-noon.

As for clothes - I see myself changing my outfit at least once during the day, haha! Icon_blaugh I know while in line, I'll probably have a ton of jewelery on, my street team shirt, a skirt maybe and probably just a pair of converse. But I'm probably taking off most of my jewelery before going on - I don't want to risk the chance of anything getting pulled/stuck in someone's hair. I'm all for comfortable shoes, like I said converse or even just sneakers for me. Maybe a tank top, maybe still my street team shirt, maybe both. Just wear what you're comfortable in - that's all that matters.

As for cameras. Mind if I ask what type of camera you have?
I have a Nikon D40 and while I plan on having it with me in line, it's getting bag checked or put in my friends car. There's no way in hell they're letting you inside with a professional camera unless you have a press/photo pass. :( (I would love to use my to photograph, but alas, I doubt it will happen.)
There are people who have permission to photograph but in general, they won't let you in with a "professional" camera otherwise. (i.e. a camera with multiple lens). I almost doubt they'll let any cameras in at all - I will be very surprised if there are pictures allowed. (I know at MUCC I had my point and shoot with me and when they checked my bag before going in, the guy flipped out and was like, "This girl has a camera! Make sure she checks her bag!" ...it was so stupid. >>;;)

But in general. No for cameras. (And honestly, I prefer it that way. People won't have their hands up with cameras the entire show. I mean, I love photographing shows both from up front and from inside the crowd, but some people lack common courtesy. -_-)
I don't really recommend camping out (unless you're doing it very late--like midnight or early morning) because I think there's going to be a show on July 10th...so there will be people lining up for a show that's the day before VAMPS'. I'm probably going to be there in the morning.

On the day of the concert, I recommend dressing in a VERY simple outfit. It's going to be very crowded and hot, so I don't think you'll want to lose accessories or hurt yourself or others.

About cameras: Don't bring it to the show. You can have them while waiting in line, but not in the venue.

Updates on the NYC project:
I am trying to purchase the glow bracelets and order the banner by the end of May (this month), so please donate ASAP!
Paypal: kiteblackrose@gmail.com
Remember to notify me if you donated (via PM or when you donate, leave a message).

BTW: a updated version of the banner: http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/2043/vampnyc.jpg
Still under works, so if you have suggestions, leave a comment!

edit: for the glowstick bracelets, do you guys want multi-colored ones or have them all in the same color?

Thanks so much for all the info about the cameras. I have a Nikon D70S which is really not that professional, more like an entry-level DSLR but if the rules are like that then I'm sure they won't let me use it. I'd have to call ahead and see if it is possible to get a press pass. My friend has done this before to be allowed to photograph at a show. But I know it's different for every venue and artist. If I can't bring it with me it's not big deal. I'm more interested in the show itself so I'll be ok. :)

I want to be comfortable but also I know that the weather is going to be hot which is why I might wear shorts or mini skirt. I love wearing my boots but I might reconsider that idea and go with sneakers, not sure.
wear shorts to be safe! in case there's perverts or something. and it's more convenient with shorts.
it's better to be safe than sorry.

If your boots don't have heels, then it shouldn't be too bad to wear. Usually people wear sneakers at concerts because thier feet is going to really tired ~

I was thinking of wearing jeans and a singlet or tshirt depending on the weather (anyone know about NY weather??? dry heat, humid? going from winter to summer is gonna be fun LOL)
And another question XD does anyone know if the venue has a bag room (and does it cost to store?) because i was planning to bring my camera to take pics before the show plus other stuff XD

It has a storage room and I think it's free they just give a ticket number for you to pickup your things after the show ^^
