If you're like me, you've probably wondered how in the world does HYDE just look so perfect? How does he get his makeup just right? How does he blend it so beautifully? How does he manage to look so god damn, turn-straight-men-gay gorgeous?

It's about time someone made something like this!

This is ok, but HYDE actually uses pencil eyeliner for his eyes. You can see him using it in several different photos. Pencil allows for smudging, which is great for smokey eyes. Also, in regards to eyeshadow, HYDE rarely uses it, unless it's for a photoshoot. In many of VAMPS' lives, HYDE's only wearing eyeliner with a bit of black eyeshadow for drama. I believe HYDE also uses mascara as well. Your makeup and the colors you use essentially depends on the "HYDE look" you're going for.

Well, I think he was going for a VAMPS photoshoot look, not a VAMPS live look. Not that he isn't drop-dead amazing in person as well, but the photoshoots are the image he's probably best known for, and as such, it would make more sense to emulate his appearance in photos rather than on video.

Don't quote me on this for I can't find the source, but I believe HYDE once said in an interview that aesthetically, VAMPS lives are very minimalistic. In Faith Live, I don't think he was even wearing foundation, and in the 2009 US lives, he wore a very loose, liquid foundation (if any at all).

As far as eyeshadows go, you're right. He definitely doesn't wear them very often in previous VAMPS lives, but you might notice that in 2012 he started wearing a lot more makeup, to include eyeliner, during the VAMPS tour. This is especially evident during the Beast on the Beach live photos.

And you're right on the eyeliner, but I think he does a splendid job making the eyeliner look very authentic despite the difference in type. Of course, you have to remember that makeup is a highly personalized art that has to be adjusted for each individual's own personal aesthetics. If he did it exactly the same as HYDE, it probably wouldn't look right on him. But like you said, depends on the HYDE look you're going for. In this case, I think he was going for something like this:



If not that, then probably pretty much any shot from the Faith tour pamphlet.

So yeah, I think he did a splendid job... minus the fangs which are a bit too obtrusive, and is thankfully something that is only seen on HYDE during a few music videos.

^ Yes, this is common sense, really. And part of the reason why I said the video was ok. What works for one, doesn't mean it will work for another due to factors such as skintone, eye shape (in regards to eyeliner), and yes, even haircolor could be a factor. If you have almond shaped eyes, applying eyeliner to the outside of your eyes will make them look larger, whereas if you only apply it on the inside, your eyes tend to look smaller. If you are a really fair skinned person with light hair, you have to be careful as to how much dark eye makeup you wear and how thick your eyeliner is because you can end up looking like a raccoon. Yeah, there are all sorts of tricks like this. However, HYDE's eyeliner never ceases to amaze me. o_o

I do, however, give the guy props for being able to record himself while applying makeup. I can barely even talk and do my eyeliner at the same time. :3
