Yeah, but you're allowed to do it only a certain number of times. I bought a region-free DVD for my laptop for about $60. It wasn't cheap and to top it off, I left the software at my aunt's house when I moved, so now I don't have it anymore. I contacted the company and asked if a new CD could be sent, but I never got a response from them.

RE: EVANESCENT
I run DVD43 while watching dvds on my computer. It decrypts the dvd so I can watch with no problems. I turn on the program, pop in the dvd and it works every time.
That way I don't have to mess with my dvd player or decrypt then burn the dvd.

It was awesome, made me happy for a while :-D
The guys look great, the song is beautiful, the cover is awesome too.
I still just wished they'd throw some English subs... some other artist do that and we fans love them extra for it.
What do you think?
--------------
Ideally, that would be awesome. However, I think it's expensive enough to make the DVDs region-free, let alone add subtitles. Yet, I don't think it'll hurt to ask...
It costs nothing to make a DVD region free. Region coding is an extra thing that the publisher chooses to include or not include. If anything, it would be cheaper to make them region free.
------------------
Oh really? I didn't know that. That's some very interesting information...
Yep!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code
"Region Code: 0 - Informal term meaning "worldwide". Region 0 is not an official setting; discs that bear the region 0 symbol either have no flag set or have region 1–6 flags set."
When I subtitled my copy of Faith Live, I also made it region free, cos that was the only way I could play it!
----------------
Oh wow. How'd you make your "FAITH Live" region free? Ha ha ha...more "useful" skills I should learn. ;)
I ripped it with DVD Decrypter (a free program) and then shrank it with DVDShrink (also free) and selected "region free", and reburned with DVD Decrypter.
Now, if you're brave and pure of heart, you can try adding some steps in the middle. Subtitles.
This link points to a rar that contains everything you need to subtitle your own copy of Faith Live (except for the 2 programs mentioned above). All the programs included are free.
The script (all the lyrics) is included, pre-timed, for both widescreen & letterbox format (meaning, if you have a widescreen HDTV, the subs appear where you'd expect, and if you have a standard TV, they appear within the black bars).
There are complete instructions included. Needless to say, no parts of the DVD itself are included, so this is as acceptable as sharing lyrics (only the lyrics have timecodes attached to them )
Nobody said it's easy, per se, but if you're a Hyde fan, you're already used to taking the road less travelled by, and probably have the perserverance to pull it off.

The fansub is something I put a lot of effort into, over 3 months of weekend all-nighters. The translation comes from Shinden (most of the Faith stuff) and gnutmeg (666 & Roentgen). I spent a lot of time making sure there were as few typos as possible (less than 5 I believe, maybe less than 3) but everyone knows there's basically no such thing as a perfect fansub.
It's subbed in both English & Romanji. The Romanji is intended to be dark green.
It's something I've always intended to share, but my membership to the Hydeist forum never got approved, so I gave up.
