RE: Beast 2nd LP by Vamps what are you thoughts
Seems like everyone's favorite is Piano Duet (which I love so much Hyde's vocals are the epitome of a rock ballad and K.A.Z. again with his sustainer just melts my heart can't wait to hear that live or see it on a dvd). I've very surprised that a lot more people weren't interested in My Frist Last. I'm not a fan of that song myself but I know a lot of people wanted to hear songs from Hyde Roentgen era.

i must be one of the few then, but not because My First Last might be thought of as more ROENTGEN-like. rather the lyrics are more like Perfect Moment or L'Arc's ALONE EN LA VIDA. from the view point of one who has lived a decent span of years and is ruminating on the what-ifs and how-much-longer aspects of life, i find these types of lyrics oddly comforting. i know that probably puts me even more into the minority. but music, like any art, is personal when it comes to one's understanding and tastes.
and Piano Duet also falls into that type of category lyrically for me. ^ ^

RE: Beast 2nd LP by Vamps what are you thoughts
Well I've been playing the album on repeat for I've lost count of how many days this has been going but the only track I really don't get the itch to skip are Devil Side, Angel Trip, Memories, Piano Duet, and Get Up. But I'm really hoping that when they play these songs live it will spark an interest in the other songs.

RE: Beast 2nd LP by Vamps what are you thoughts
I've only listened to the whole album twice now, but so far, I'm not too thrilled. The songs that particularly stood out for me were Euphoria, Get Up, and My First Last.
Personally, I think Revolution is the worst thing Hyde has ever done. I despise Motley Crue, and that's what it sounds like to me. My wife couldn't stand it either. She actually put on headphones and started listening to something else, and she loves all of Hyde's solo stuff.
I get the whole "trying to make cool live songs" thing, but they're getting dangerously close to generic formula rock. Devil Side sounds like Countdown, First Last sounds like Perfect Moment.....
I'm sure it'll grow on me, but I wanted to get my initial thoughts out before they change.
The whole singing in english thing seems to put a damper on the emotional aspect of Hyde's performance. Almost like he's trying to emulate American music from 15 or 20 years ago.....and I happen to hate most 80's & 90's cheese rock bands.
He's still an incredible singer and performer, but it seems like he's getting farther and farther away from what made me like his music in the first place....and I was into Hyde before I learned to like L'Arc.

My very first favorite songs of Beast were in fact My first last and Revolution. I never categorized My first last as belonging to the Roentgen era (or any other era for that matter) *shrug*, I immediately liked it because it had the same mood like Perfect Moment which I also always liked , because of the acoustic sound, the instrumentation overall, meaning the kind of hand drums (?) that are used there, the sitar (?) in between, the whole trance feeling that comes across, later also the lyrics. I love it! More than Piano duet with which I had "problems" with for a longer time, but just because I expected something else (something like an acoustic piano piece WITHOUT an unacoustic chorus ). Meanwhile I got used to it and like it. I think it will never be my favorite, but I think it's a good song now. As for Revolution I LOVE how exaggerated it sounds , the PV really fits the song I think. And I know two certain childen, 4 and 2, who know to sing Bang on stomp everybody meanwhile . Loud. The song is just FUN and I love it for that. As for the album overall I find myself less skipping songs compared to "VAMPS". It's somehow easier for me to listen to the album as a whole. There are no songs that bore me so much that I can't stand to listen to them. Sometimes, Vamp addiction right after Euphoria feels a bit weak, but everything else is really interesting in it's own way. It's all a matter of taste I guess, but for me, Beast is a really good album. Don't have the time to go in more detail now. Maybe we all should write real fan reviews of the whole album one day .
