RE: MEMORIES - BEAST
I'm sorry to say I don't really like it very much DD=
I listened to... what? 30 seconds? The thing is that this song sounds WAY too much like L'arc~en~Ciel for me to like it.
I want VAMPS rock, not some sort of song that sounds like L'arc! Mainly because even though I LOVE VAMPS, I'm not too much of a L'arc~en~Ciel fan, and it sounds to me as though they are confusing a little bit the styles or something.
I don't know, I'm just not convinced by this u___u It's not a bad song. It just sounds too much like L'arc. And I don't like that @_____@

RE: MEMORIES - BEAST
I freaking LOVE this song. Mainly because it sounds more like L'Arc ^^. VAMPS have too many of those hard rocking songs they usually do and I always hope they do more songs like this. I mean my favourite songs of these 2 guys are songs like Season's Call, Evanescent, Time Goes By and now Memories...so basically those atmospheric songs. KAZ's signature sound and Hyde's Japanese vocals always seem to work really well. Imo, Memories is a much better song than both Devil Side and Angel Trip.

I have to say, I don't agree nor disagree with both. I absolutely LOVE L'arc (I rather VAMPS 100 times more), and I thought the song was really cute, a great beat, reminded me the opening of InuYasha's new season (really want to read the lyrics, they are the ones that motivate me so much usually).
But I AM a ROCKER girl, I like it very hard, so my favorites from VAMPS are usually songs like the new Kyuketsu, Dolly, It's Sad, Redrum... so... I can't say Memories is now one of my favorites, though I do think it's PERFECT! So far my favorite is Devil Side, but I must say I have a great feeling about Euphoria (don't know why).
But it's normal to have beats like L'arc in VAMPS I think, because they DO sell, they DO get stuck in your head, and well, it matches Hyde's voice, so... it's kinda inevitable.

About 10 years ago I went to a music store in Yokohama and bought a CD called "Neo Universe" by a band called L'arc en Ciel because my friend had me listen to the preview in the music store. It was the beginning of a love affair that would last a long time. When Hyde started doing his solo work I liked it a lot more than the L'arc stuff (but I never stopped liking L'arc either). Roentgen was a very dreamy album (a far, far cry from VAMPS!! It's funny to think about it really!). But then Hyde came out with 666 and Faith and now VAMPS and he just gets better all the time. I love the harder stuff but softer tunes like Memories really help to balance out the sounds and makes me think of VAMPS as a much more versatile band. You see them run the gamut between super hard metal covers like KYUKETSU and then more lighthearted tunes like Angel Trip to ballads like Sweet Dreams. It gives you this sense that there's nothing they can't do or aren't willing to try and I think that will help them appeal to a wider fan base with a larger range of musical tastes :)

If you have checked the other thread about the interview with J, J has said that those who are familiar with L'Arc~en~Ciel will find that the album will have quite a similar feel. I guess it is to lure some L'Arc fans in to give VAMPS a chance.

RE: MEMORIES - BEAST
Funny thing, while I do see the L'Arc influence, I don't think this song is THAT much like L'Arc at all. It's a lot more VAMPS-ish I think. I mean, don't get me wrong. Even in HYDE's solo work, they've always had the image of hard rock and roll, but they've always had a sort of variety.
In actuality, it showcases exactly why I like VAMPS in the first place, because it's a whole mesh of different genres. There's songs like KYUKETSU and then there's cute songs like this, and I can't say I prefer one over the other, because my mood always changes and thus so do my favorites. Usually, though, the songs that do become my favorites have some sort of sentimental value to me. VAMPS are amazing at making songs that just word-for-word match my feelings and they tend to release them at JUST the right time. EVANESCENT's release... just... wow. Perfect timing.
Anyway, before I get on that subject, yeah, the variety of VAMPS is what makes me love them so much, especially in comparison to L'Arc. L'Arc is an amazing band too (especially indie L'Arc) but their songs scarcely differ from one another. The themes are all pretty much the same and the music will take an OCCASIONAL risk here and there, but they immediately go back to the typical format later on. I don't know. It feels a lot more corporate and less personal to me. That and the fact that it has to be approved by all four members (as opposed to two members who work together very well) makes it feel like every song has been fixed and tampered with to the point where it loses its original personality.
That's just me, though. You may feel free to disagree.

Yes, yes! I know what you mean! Especially about Hyde releasing songs with lyrics that match my life at the PERFECT time. It's eerie!!!

Totally agreed. Although I do hear traces of L'Arc, this song is not L'Arc.
