I've very surprised that a lot more people weren't interested in My Frist Last. I'm not a fan of that song myself but I know a lot of people wanted to hear songs from Hyde Roentgen era.
i must be one of the few then, but not because My First Last might be thought of as more ROENTGEN-like. rather the lyrics are more like Perfect Moment or L'Arc's ALONE EN LA VIDA. from the view point of one who has lived a decent span of years and is ruminating on the what-ifs and how-much-longer aspects of life, i find these types of lyrics oddly comforting. i know that probably puts me even more into the minority. but music, like any art, is personal when it comes to one's understanding and tastes.
and Piano Duet also falls into that type of category lyrically for me. ^ ^
My very first favorite songs of Beast were in fact My first last and Revolution. I never categorized My first last as belonging to the Roentgen era (or any other era for that matter) *shrug*, I immediately liked it because it had the same mood like Perfect Moment which I also always liked

, because of the acoustic sound, the instrumentation overall, meaning the kind of hand drums (?) that are used there, the sitar (?) in between, the whole trance feeling that comes across, later also the lyrics. I love it! More than Piano duet with which I had "problems" with for a longer time, but just because I expected something else (something like an acoustic piano piece WITHOUT an unacoustic

chorus

). Meanwhile I got used to it and like it. I think it will never be my favorite, but I think it's a good song now. As for Revolution I LOVE how exaggerated it sounds

, the PV really fits the song I think. And I know two certain childen, 4 and 2, who know to sing Bang on stomp everybody meanwhile

. Loud. The song is just FUN and I love it for that. As for the album overall I find myself less skipping songs compared to "VAMPS". It's somehow easier for me to listen to the album as a whole. There are no songs that bore me so much that I can't stand to listen to them. Sometimes, Vamp addiction right after Euphoria feels a bit weak, but everything else is really interesting in it's own way. It's all a matter of taste I guess, but for me, Beast is a really good album. Don't have the time to go in more detail now. Maybe we all should write real fan reviews of the whole album one day
