I remember 2 incidents at the Wiltern with asian girls.
-One was a girl that arrived the day of the show, her spot had been held by someone that had one of the first 10 numbers, nobody had seen her... so there was a bit of drama in it.
-The other one was friend of someone that was there from the very first day, he slept on the floor from the first night of line, when the girl arrived the day before the shoow (she had Gackt-like skin. btw ºwº) she made line with the rest of her friends, several spots back (like 50) then the day of the show, this guy decided he’d give her his spot, so they exchanged places, and the girl at some point was very angry because people accused her of cutting line and she was alone so nobody spoke for her, but things got cleared eventually.

I don’t see why ONE single person should be in charge of that, and as for people cutting in front of others you have to learn to stand up for yourself and say “I don’t think so, get to the back you weren’t here before so go back” There was like 3 different “line” lists by the time the show came along in LA so...I think a list is pointless since it can be redone and redone because I was supposed to be number 9 or 10 in LA and since peoples friends cut in front of me I was like 15. I didn’t realize it at the time and since there was so much DRAMA before hand about not letting people’s friends cut I didn’t want to start something 30 minutes before the concert. Oh well I got front row so I’m not going to complain.
The list is usually not in charge of ONE person, it is agreed and managed by a number of people.
At the Wiltern there was ONE list, it suffered an important change because someone listed the group of friends but didin’t give them all a number, so we had:
34-Jane Doe
35-John Doe
Jack Bauer
Mickey Mouse
Donald Duck
Miley Cirus
Hideto Takarai
Kitty Cat
36-Malcom X
People complained about the re-numbering, we had to explain, but the list was the same, that’s why we asked everyone to write down their own names if possible, to avoid paranoia of falsification... in the end ALWAYS you have some people cut in, but it is not the same 4 or 5 each 40 people than 15 people each group of 20.
I.E. I remember a very shy girl that wouldn’t even give us her name because she was not on the list on that spot but 20-30 numbers later, but she wanted to be with her group of friends. In such cases there should be no need to be bitchy, as stated before, if ONE person arrives to a spot held by friends there shouldn’t be a problem... The problem is when someone in the very front lets in a group of three friends, those three friends are with their couple, so that makes 6 ppl, then one lets in a group of 5, that brings with them the 2 nice girls they met that morning, one of he girls with 1 bf on the way, another one of the six lets 1 friend in too, who was supposed to hold spots for her 8 friends, another of the six lets in another person, and suddenly you have 23 people in front of the line, in front of the guys that camped out. Now THAT’S something that can create malcontent. Like in HOB where the guy said: “form 2 lines” and some people used that as an excuse to cut to the very front. Sad, but the guards would do nothing about it, so they stayed at the front.

We had no problems in SF, Vegas or SD with people cutting really. LA wasn’t really a problem either from where I was at. Now if an extraordinary amount of people are cutting in front of you saying they were there and they weren’t there at all except an hour before the show then yeah but if someone sleeps over night and holds your position for you and you come there in the morning I see no need to monitor anything. I know in SF we marked hands and it worked just fine.

I remember where you were in line, and some of my friends in line a little before you were cut by a bunch of other people. And the hand marking wasn’t done by the venue staff, but by fans that arrived before I did. And what I mean by monitoring the line, I mean by making sure there aren’t any problems during the time people are camping out. The day of the show, well, I can’t really do much about line cutting the day of.
I think that, like you said before, the monitoring is the responsability of the fans (security won’t deal with fangils XD) and for their own sake :-3
At the Wiltern a group with very bad attitude tried to get their spots without making line and they were ignored by the rest of the fans that did make line n_n
Security does take care (or should) about molesters, junkies, drunk people that harass the fans... ;_; they should!
