Does anyone have info to share about the Avalon? - M.A.R. - 05-01-2010
I thought I'd post this for those of us who have not been to the Avalon. Does anyone have any experience or wise facts to share about the Theater?? How strict they are on electronics (how do they search you)? chain accessories? is the area OK to spend the night in? Are fans orderly taken inside or just running in after doors open? And what's the best route to the front when the show starts? Are there food stores nearby? Share your experience with the crowd, tight security, etc. plz. It'd be a big help :)
Thank You!

This is a great topic. I'm also really curious about this. Judging by the area, I think it'd be nice to stay in over night, but perhaps a little expensive. Buuut, that's just judging by the area, I have no idea otherwise.
About the way fans are let in, I'm very curious about that as well. Thank you for starting this topic, I hope that some people can share their experiences.

The line goes down the sidewalk from the front entrance which is also where the entrance is located, so if you are front of the line you'll probably see them go in. When you go in you'll go down a hallway, pass the merch both, then you'll find the room which is probably a little smaller than the House of Blues if I remember correctly. When you come into the pit initially they make everyone sit for the hour waiting for the band to come out and I strongly suggest you make yourself comfortable and don't sit on your knees. When everyone gets up the pit will condense forward so be ready because everyone will move. I'm sure no one will get hurt but you just may want to make sure you aren't looking the other way or dazing off when everyone gets up cuz you may lose your spot. I saw An Cafe there last year and I liked it, I think its a nice little venue.

So there's a parking lot close by? Annnd, if so, what's the fee to park? :]
Edit: Actually, I just read a few reviews saying the parking in the area is terrible. I wonder if it has anything to do with the specific events going on...

I didn't have any problems parking. The bar was not a titty bar but it was one of those bars that are so dark your eyes have to adjust to be able to see. XD
There weren't any panhandlers as far as I remember.

Ahh, I'm glad to hear that! I had read about a few people saying it was difficult finding parking, and that the area was so busy and that added to the difficulty. Maybe it depends on the event that's going on. I don't imagine a bunch of VAMPS fans to be assholes though. The show at the Wiltern was problem-free for me. I'm really glad to hear your previous experience had no parking problems, though! Thank you!
