There were quite a few problems in LA, especially if you read the posts of some of the people that went. I remember where you were in line, and some of my friends in line a little before you were cut by a bunch of other people. And the hand marking wasn't done by the venue staff, but by fans that arrived before I did. And what I mean by monitoring the line, I mean by making sure there aren't any problems during the time people are camping out. I know it was a fan thing in line as I said IN SAN FRANCISCO we did that same thing. I was there and I recall it was fans who did the hand marking. I don't see why ONE single person should be in charge of that, and as for people cutting in front of others you have to learn to stand up for yourself and say "I don't think so, get to the back you weren't here before so go back" There was like 3 different "line" lists by the time the show came along in LA so...I think a list is pointless since it can be redone and redone because I was supposed to be number 9 or 10 in LA and since peoples friends cut in front of me I was like 15. I didn't realize it at the time and since there was so much DRAMA before hand about not letting people's friends cut I didn't want to start something 30 minutes before the concert. Oh well I got front row so I'm not going to complain.

LOLZ. Those who weren't past the "bend" of the building at SF know that like thirty minutes before the show (or maybe more, my sense of time is screwed up) a BUNCH of people cut.

But meh, I got front row so I didn't care much either. Icon_3nodding Also, this year my uber awesome friend is going to be holding my spot since I have school. But I hope to be there ASAP.

I'm not talking about San Francisco, I'm talking about Los Angeles, especially since this is an L.A. thread. And like I said before, THE DAY OF the show, there's nothing really anyone can do. Unless of course the venue staff or VAMPS' staff has someone go around to mark people the I'm talking about a day or so prior to the show. Moreover, your experiences at both shows are different from the experiences of others, myself included. And if you don't like the list idea, well, no one is asking you to do it. The purpose and sole purpose of this list is to make sure people line up accordingly a day or so prior to the show, in the event we should have to be removed from our spots. The list in L.A. worked very well that way last year. Problems occurred on the day of the show because people were misinformed and thought the list was official and if you didn't have a number, you couldn't be in line, etc, etc... I wasn't in charge of the list last year and I knew there was a lot of drama due to the disorgnization of it. Well, we'll see what happens this year...

I remember 2 incidents at the Wiltern with asian girls.
-One was a girl that arrived the day of the show, her spot had been held by someone that had one of the first 10 numbers, nobody had seen her... so there was a bit of drama in it.
-The other one was friend of someone that was there from the very first day, he slept on the floor from the first night of line, when the girl arrived the day before the shoow (she had Gackt-like skin. btw ºwº) she made line with the rest of her friends, several spots back (like 50) then the day of the show, this guy decided he’d give her his spot, so they exchanged places, and the girl at some point was very angry because people accused her of cutting line and she was alone so nobody spoke for her, but things got cleared eventually.

The list is usually not in charge of ONE person, it is agreed and managed by a number of people.
At the Wiltern there was ONE list, it suffered an important change because someone listed the group of friends but didin’t give them all a number, so we had:
34-Jane Doe
35-John Doe
Jack Bauer
Mickey Mouse
Donald Duck
Miley Cirus
Hideto Takarai
Kitty Cat
36-Malcom X

People complained about the re-numbering, we had to explain, but the list was the same, that’s why we asked everyone to write down their own names if possible, to avoid paranoia of falsification... in the end ALWAYS you have some people cut in, but it is not the same 4 or 5 each 40 people than 15 people each group of 20.

I.E. I remember a very shy girl that wouldn’t even give us her name because she was not on the list on that spot but 20-30 numbers later, but she wanted to be with her group of friends. In such cases there should be no need to be bitchy, as stated before, if ONE person arrives to a spot held by friends there shouldn’t be a problem... The problem is when someone in the very front lets in a group of three friends, those three friends are with their couple, so that makes 6 ppl, then one lets in a group of 5, that brings with them the 2 nice girls they met that morning, one of he girls with 1 bf on the way, another one of the six lets 1 friend in too, who was supposed to hold spots for her 8 friends, another of the six lets in another person, and suddenly you have 23 people in front of the line, in front of the guys that camped out. Now THAT’S something that can create malcontent. Like in HOB where the guy said: “form 2 lines” and some people used that as an excuse to cut to the very front. Sad, but the guards would do nothing about it, so they stayed at the front.

I think that, like you said before, the monitoring is the responsability of the fans (security won’t deal with fangils XD) and for their own sake :-3
At the Wiltern a group with very bad attitude tried to get their spots without making line and they were ignored by the rest of the fans that did make line n_n
Security does take care (or should) about molesters, junkies, drunk people that harass the fans... ;_; they should!

I just think that how US FANS did it in SF worked just fine ( I KNOW this is the LA section and I KNOW we're talking about LA). There wasn't a list or anything there was numbers and if you were holding someone's place you told the person who was numbering your hand so they could skip a number or two for the next person. I personally don't think its up to anyone to judge who can and cannot be in line, if they cut then the person in front of them should speak up and say hey you weren't here all day and USUALLY the people in front of you tell you if they are holding someones place. But whatever. I won't cut in line or anything but if someone cuts in front of me you can bet I'll be telling them something. But it seems people got all sensitive and cried about not letting their friend cut in line (contradictory if you ask me) but it wasn't OK for other people to do the same. IF people say right off that "I'm holding a spot for a friend, she/he will be here later" then its fine but if its not said until that person arrives that's wrong and people should expect others to get mad. We are old enough to make decisions for ourselves I don't think we need a leader to boss us around or anything. But if whoever wants to make a list whatever, make a list.

------------------

To address your point of there not being a list, but numbers: there was in fact a paper list that went around and people came to sign. The numbers, from what I remember, were then written on the hands of those in line and were to correspond with their number that they signed next to on the list. I also want to comment on the person crying in line as a direct comment to me, because that was in fact me. However, you don't know what went on and judging from your comment, you are misinformed. In fact, I did tell the people I was in line with that I was holding a spot for someone and it wasn't a big deal to them until the day of the show. I cried because I overreacted due to the fact that I was pissed and exhausted, as I hadn't slept in two days, so emotions were running a bit high.

"I personally don't think its up to anyone to judge who can and cannot be in line..."

As I stated before, that IS NOT the purpose of the list. No one has the authority to tell anyone who can and can't be in line. Not only is it ridiculous, but it is wrong too.

"We are old enough to make decisions for ourselves I don't think we need a leader to boss us around or anything."

I am also going to take slight offense to that comment as well. I have never "bossed" anyone around and if you were previously mistreated by someone claiming to be a leader, then my apologies. I have no official authority over anyone and have never claimed as such. I just want to make sure that this experience is better than last year's. It is our own responsibility to be responsible for ourselves. And you're right, we are old enough to make decisions for ourselves. And again, my job isn't to babysit anyone, but if there are issues with people cutting in line, at least there could be some verification that the person was not supposed to be there could be removed, thus ending the dispute (hopefully). More importantly and the main reason for the list is should something happen where those camping out should get removed from the line, then everyone could line back up accordingly. No issues. No big deal.

But I'm done talking about this as I can see we are not going to agree. And that's ok too. I'm sure you are someone who doesn't cause problems and wants to have a safe, as well as an enjoyable concert-going experience, just like everyone else. That's cool. But I want to clarify, no one is bossing anyone around and no one is officially "in charge" of anything. Thank you.

There's really no need to get all defensive Icon_eh Wait people cried in San Francisco or in LA? I'm confused since you seem to be contradicting yourself by saying you liked how it was handled in SF, but then people cut anyway. LOLZ. Trust me I was there. They did cut behind me so I didn't much care though... Icon_3nodding

Secondly, I really don't think anyone is trying to boss anyone around. We just don't want a repeat of last year when some people (Hedelex Icon_heart ) had to deliver the smackdown on some rude cutters! And yes :) I think we will make a list. Icon_biggrin
