The cover album would be great for iTunes, that way L'Arc might get a listen from people looking up BOYZ II Men, TLC, and the rest. Plus, I would like to give those song's a listen first...

So the track list has finally been confirmed. Rather or not the artists will sing in English or Japanese remains uncertain, but judging by the fact that some of the titles have been translated into English (i.e. Niji is now RAINBOW), it's pretty safe to assume it will be in English. However, the bonus tracks will contain covers by Japanese bands as well, so it may be worth it for those who are still a little uneasy about the prospect of western bands covering Japanese songs.

01. Blurry Eyes / Vince Neil
02. NEO UNIVERSE / Orianthi
03. RAINBOW (Niji) / TLC
04. HONEY / Eric Martin and John 5
05. READY STEADY GO / ZEBRAHEAD
06. snow drop / Boyz II Men
07. Vivid Colors / Maxi Priest
08. HEAVEN'S DRIVE / Michael Monroe
09. STAY AWAY / Daniel Powter
10. flower / Clementine

Plus four bonus tracks by Japanese artists:

11. SEVENTH HEAVEN / POLYSICS (yes!)
12. Shout at the Devil / SID
13. Caress of Venus / Hemenway
14. Driver's High / TOTALFAT

I've never even heard of the last two. Yet another band I must look into. Overall, I'm still really looking forward to seeing what these artists come up with. It's a pretty good list of songs, but none of these songs would be ruined by a lackluster cover.

Yeah, now that they've added SID to it, it will go on my "to buy" list.

They always get into your wallet somehow.

you've got that right. SID is a great incentive. Mao did a really good job on Inner Core back in 2007 JITB. with Sakura on drums. [aren't there mp3s of a couple more l'arc songs by SID floating around out there? i'd swear i have them somewhere, but not where i can find them. >.<]

they should've gotten MUCC to do a song, like a reprise of Shinshoku~lose control~, or Takanori[TMR] and Glay could try another one..or Kiyoharu. { RSG and HONEY respectively, also at JITB and Kiyo's sung with Hyde a few times.."Husk" lol ^ ^}. if they asked all of their fanboys alone, they'd have an all star album. Icon_biggrin i'm only partly kidding. ^ ^

the very idea of this screws with my head, but, i'm glad they have Boys2Men doing snow drop, not metropolis. XP i'm not sure about Vince Neil and Blurry Eyes. Shout At The Devil would've been so perfectly ..ironic? Icon_eh

most of the younger bands on the list i don't really know, at least by name. if someone played one of their songs or showed a vid clip, i might recognize them. it's that way with most western music these days. even bands i've loved for years, i'm ashamed to say, i have no idea what they are up to. we'll see.

and what about the TWENITY dvd? most of those tracks i saw listed are already on dvd. true, mostly one of the FLA collections. i wonder what the criteria for selection was and who chose them? same with the Tribute cd, who picked these bands?

Now that I think about it, I would have loved to have GACKT to sing a L'Arc song...and I'm impressed that Acid Black Cherry [or Yasu] are not here.

No...really.

Guys, knock it off. Seriously. Let the tribute album go.

Maybe they're just doing it for fun. If I had that shitload of money, I'd ask Lady Gaga to cover my songs for fun, just to see what it's like. Let them figure out the overseas sales thing! You're not their accountant. Just do YOUR job, and be a fan. And wait. And listen to their music.

I can't fuckin' wait. Because I LOVED TLC and Boyz II Men when I was little. So this is pretty awesome to me. My sister's curiosity has sparked too. She doesn't listen to L'Arc at all, but she wants to see how all of this turns out, because she loves TLC and Boyz II Men.

The tribute album is going to be released on radio today, May 15, on radios in Japan, so if anyone lives there, keep your ears attentive! I can't wait to hear this. Every time I think about the opening piano of Ibara no Namida in the NYC show, ugh. I tear up. I can't wait for them to come back.

RE: BOYZ II MEN, TLC to Cover L’Arc-en-Ciel Songs on First Tribute Album!
I believe that the reason that I'm not so static about this album is that I've seen good artists getting "on trend" and then forgotten because that was what it was cool at the moment. And I would like to people see L'Arc or any other J-rock/j-pop/k-pop [yes, I mentioned k-pop] artist as something more than a trend. And not to be cool until another Justin Beiber or Youtube artist comes out and "Bye-bye" L'Arc...

And it's like most fans [and me sometimes] feel like L'Arc/VAMPS/HYDE are more like the classic non-stream/cult music type. And yes, it feels like that.

So even when Boyz II men and TLC are GREAT performers; even if it was Aerosmith singing Killing Me or Bon Jovi performing Hozishora, I'll feel concerned about it. Even if I ADORE all the artists in this tribute CD, there's always something to say about it, and most when it's a song that you know by it's first version.

Yeah, but look how long they've been doing this. I mean, really? You guys are looking into it way too much. That crap's a little too hipsteresque for me. So let's assume that they DO WELL in the US. Right? And then they're "forgotten" like you said. By who? If you're a fan, then it's sure as hell not going to be you, right? Quit worrying about how other people will percieve Laruku. Everyone's swimming in cash, (even though it doesn't seem like it). When people hear covers, they're more likely to hear the original. Kate Bush's career skyrocketed after Placebo made a remake of her song "Running Up That Hill", so. I don't get it.

And who cares what kind of music it is? Music is music, and it's made to enjoy.

Why is it so hard to just focus on THAT? Seriously. Please. Don't make this another Tokio Hotel forum.

Eh, not everyone has to like everything a band is doing.

And personally, if I like a cover I am LESS likely to want to hear the original. I don't care about the original at all if I like the cover, and associate the song with the cover artist, not the original artist. If I do like a song it tends to be whichever version I hear first.

Honestly, I don't think I like any of the artists doing the tributes and it seems like a random mix to me, which is why I'm not buying the album at all. I hope they're all at least huge fans, because I think it would be dumb to have non-fans do a tribute album.

I'm not sure what you mean about not making this another Tokio Hotel forum since I'm not part of one. But the forum is what it is and no one is obligated to blindly love everything the band is doing, nor do they have to keep dissenting opinions a secret.

Music is also a personal issue to each listener. Otherwise there would be no need to have so many genres.

I am not worrying about how people will percieve L'Arc. I don't care one way or another. What I care about is listening to any music sung by someone who I don't enjoy listening to in the first place. Therefore, I pick and choose, dislike, and like, discard and keep.

We each have our own opinions on any artist and therefore our own comments. Popular or not.
