RE: Music Station ranking
Only 9th? I thought they'd be higher than that. Is the listing for rock bands only or does it count pop groups and solo artists?
If they're counting all artists, including bubble gum pop groups, then I guess it makes sense to be 9th.

This was for rock bands only.
There was another listing for all kinds of music grouped together and they were ranked 15th there.
Keep in mind, this reflects music SALES. With all of the pirating of music going on onlline, this affects rankings as only legal sales are counted. So if people don't support the band by purchasing their music, then their ranking goes up slower.

That's it also happens when you buy stuff from ebay or non-Japan editions. They may be cheaper but it won't reflect on L'Arc's ranking at all. Only stuff bought on official retailers will count like Cdjapan, YesAsia, Japan discoveries + HMV

Hm, I thought they'd be higher, even with pirating. I've heard pirating isn't as big in Japan and I would assume most of their fans are there. International fans also seem to buy from YesAsia/CDJapan.
They're such an old and popular band I thought they'd be higher. Was it just for the year or in all time?

This is for all time. It includes bands (higher than L'Arc) that are no longer active plus ones that are still performing. This is the most current ranking.
They are in the top 10 so that is not bad at all! We just love them so much that we can't believe that they are not higher. They are number 1 in our hearts!

Yeah, since this is the highest-ranking "of all time" then I can't say I'm particularly surprised they're only number nine. Anyone have the rest of the results? I'll assume that X-Japan is probably at or near the top.

Actually X-Japan was lower if I remember correctly. BZ was number 1. Glay was above them. Maybe Mr. Children. I don't remember the rest of them off of the top of my head and dont' have the link memorized.
