I think that the thing that may cause conflict between the users/fans of this site/forum and the Official Street Team is that they used the term 'fangirl' as with the negative connotation. And that is pretty risky to say, in my opinion.

Because, some of the "fangirls" are the ones who had the guts to see EVERY VAMPS show on their first USA Tour in 2009[and in my opinion, I love them for their dedication] and they did it the second time they came [2010]. So yeah, some fangirls have the income and guts to see their favorite bands at not cost and they are willing to make 3-day lines just to be close to their idol.

I don't consider to call myself a fangirl because even when I attended to TWO VAMPS concerts [2009 in LA and 2010 in New York] and made line from very early hours in the morning I don't accuse fans in the crowd for singing the songs wrong [personal experience]; but still if that's being a fangirl for some people then I am. XD

Second, I believe that the purpose of the link/connection that Tokyo suggested was with the Street Team purpose; to make a SOLD OUT show on their [until now] ONLY show in the USA.

And sorry for saying this, but I think that the way that they responded to you Tokyo...it looks like they think that they are in cloud nine. And sometimes are the attitudes of people like them, who are also part of the tour staff, that some fans are discouraged to attend to a concert.

And again, I wish that they could at least consulted J on ANYTHING, and one of those lessons will be:

"How to make fans trust you and love you by working ALONG with them 101"

"How joining to strong fan forums to assure you a wider information spread 101"

and my favorite subject:

"How to be recognized and be seen as an ally for those who are spending flight and hotel expenses to see an artist who's concert ticket costs like less the 10% of their whole trip 101"

There is nothing wrong with most of the fangirls/boys. They don't all belong in a negative or demeaning light.

As far as promotion.....if you are a fan of L'arcs (and have the money and time) you already know about the lives and are making plans. You've already told your friends and family.

I would think the "Official" Street Team would only be of benefit on the East Coast close to the venue. Someone living on the West Coast who has never heard of the band is highly unlikely to pay out the cash for a flight, room, and tickets for someone they have not heard of. It is foolish to think that they would.

I spent more of my time and money than I care to admit promoting VAMPS when they came here. I don't plan to do the same for L'arc. I have some not-so-happy memories from some street team members anyway. Live and learn.

Woooooow, I haven't been around here for a while (since Vamps is on hiatus) but I decided to pop in for new of L'Arc's Street Team.

That's way harsh. Bands shouldn't work with fangirls? Oh, yes, you're right, we're/they're just there to supply the money. Very, very rude. I see a lot of members here also feel the Street Team is of no use to anyone not in the East Coast....

Fangirls get a bad reputation, which I don't like.

Although I do agree to some extent. I think street team stuff is fine but many fans shouldn't be official staff members. They may get caught up in the glamor and be more interested in trying to hook up with their fav artist rather than do work. There is also the issue of people leaking information to their friends. Of course, a band wouldn't want to do official work with fans who are all like 'omg omgomg I lovvvee youuu.'

I do remember that after the autograph session there were people crying because they met Hyde. And that it great and wonderful experience for them, but I don't know if fans that are that emotional would be good, calm, band employees.

Plus there could be issues of jealousy when Mr. Rockstar hooks up with another girl.

However, not all fans are like that. After all, people in the music industry ARE fans are various artists. And some regular fans are good at staying calm and keeping secrets. It more comes down to who is trustworthy and who is not.

I don't think there should be a blanket statement that bands shouldn't work with fangirls. It should be more like.. bands should only work with trustworthy people. Whether they are a fan or not should not matter if they act professionally and don't let their fanness get in the way of their job.

But this is street team promotion stuff. Very very different than being say.. a band manager or a merch girl that tours with the band. There shouldn't be an issue with fans doing street team stuff. As far as I know street team members don't regularly hang out with the band so there shouldn't be any issues of over excited fans.

That pretty much sums up how I feel about it. Yes, fangirls probably should not be involved in the planning and managing of the band. But this is a Street Team, which by definition requires the help of fans. It seems a counter-productive put-down for fans and fangirls, when the Street Team is in fact asking for fans' help.

Totally agree. Plus the VAMPS street teams were just that..... fans of the band who agreed to promote. Fans. Not paid professionals. Fans.
