I think partly it was that he was hyping up The Desire like it was the album or a single.....and partly that what he said may have sounded naughtier than he intended, and that he may have made a promise he couldn't keep.

Plus, he was looking at the camera all serious and being "cool guy Hyde" when a noise in the background (sounded like a bird maybe?) distracted him & made him lose his train of thought.....causing him to go completely off the rails!
