H.P.: your painting of Hyde makes me feel frustrated, because you've got the most dificult part right: the face oval and the nose.

I have not artistic skills whatsoever, but let me give you some suggestions, since i've struggled with human anatomy textbooks in Med School.
If possible:
- make his upper lip fuller
- make his lower lip thinner
- make his labial commissures slightly downwards
- make his right eye (your left) a little bigger and more in paralel with the other eye

I've made -in a hurry- some changes in paint, so you can get the idea

It's a bit difficult 'cause his face is rather flat in this photo. Also, I've always struggled with lips anyway. But yes, your suggestions have been very helpful. I'll give it another go tomorrow. ;)

OH yeah!!! Now I get it!!! That's very hard to paint! because the mouth is not closed, yet not fully open. Painting bits of teeth is waaaay Hard!!!!! For some bizarre reason many times it ends up looking like fake teeth

ok i see the rfrence it cause his mouth is open a bit n hes flicking his tung over his top lip.. n if poss the upper lip point need soothed... idk though oils can be hard to change depending on how set they r

I agree HYDE doesn't look exactly like him, but it's not supposed to, like Hedelex said this is an artistic interpretation and I love it! K.A.Z is beautiful!! >.<

Wow. I was so busy with other areas of the forum, I only just realized that you had images of your banner, here. Wow! You know, the band will want to keep those portraits.

You'll get hyde the way you want him, don't stress. The impact of the face, when you first see it, is very much him, and that's the important part. You can always fine tune details, which is time-consuming.

Getting that mood, the aura of a person, and the sense of how they naturally move, their over-all form, the expressions their face tends to set in - is fine portraiture. You really are getting that. K.A.Z and Ju-ken especially, at the point when you took those photos, are so right!!

The only thing is that it's going to be too good for us to write on!

I hope I get a chance to see the banner in person. I'm trying to find a way to get down and back, on a shoestring!! Anyone know anyone who's able to share room or transportation, down through Seattle or at least Portland, and/or back up, to get to the L.A. show?

I was blown away immediately by your Ju-Ken! It totally captures him. ANd KAZ looks like KAZ! It is awesome. Hyde, as you know... well... Can't you pick a better more recent pic of him to work from?!? That is the biggest problem, I think. Your source material is weak... It is hard to pull out a strong image from a weak one... SO far, the Ari looks great too! Jin, I prefer maskless, lol...

Oh wow, this is amazing! I had no idea you were PAINTING the banner for LA, that's incredible...! How long did it take you, lol? (I'm assuming it's almost, if not complete by now.)
