RE: VAMPS LIVE 2009 U.S.A (DVD)
Now that we are done sorting out where we all live, I for one would like to see some discussion on the new DVD.

We know that H.P. doesn't like it but she hasn't been back on, as yet, to share why.

I did like it. The only part that I thought was weak was the L.A. show. To me, the sound just didn't seem right. It seemed washed out or something.

I liked the guys being their usual goofy selves in their off time. Hyde doing the horrible version of Sweet Dreams had me rolling on the floor. His sneaking in his signature on the poster was priceless.

I also like that they expanded the bits that we had seen in the Sweet Dreams PV.

To me, it was like a book. It opened at the beginning of their arrival and then progressed as they went across country. The final chapter ended it all. I enjoyed watching it and do not regret purchasing it in the least.

Let's have some comments.....good or bad....

RE: VAMPS LIVE 2009 U.S.A (DVD)
I liked the memories it brought back but it could have been less expensive. Specially because of the video and sound quality and the missing setlist. Some parts were unnecessary I would have rather had 2 more songs (vampire depression for instance) instead of 6 minutes that included things like Hyde dragging his luggage. (I love hyde don't get me wrong).

I wish they had shown footage of the L.A line and specially THE BANNER. Yes, the banner that H.P worked on for over 3 months. I was lucky to see my banner (The N.Y one) the one Jenny and I worked on. But maybe to start each part of the tour with a closeup of the banners.. dunno just 3 secs just that.

In my opinion the DVD should have cost $35.. not the 66+ incl shipping I paid. The trailer at the end of the DVD is like a joke for me, the quality of the presentation and the sound and the video and everything puts our (I consider it ours, even though I'm not from the US xD just saying). DVD to shame.

Granted they didn't have to make a DVD specially for us, and I thank them for letting me know what happened after I tied that headband on Hyde xD. But I feel cheated in a way, first the setlist, then the quality, and at the end the trailer. Like a: look this is how the official live is, come live in Japan :D".

P.S We had our perks, we got to be closer than what usually Japanese fans get, I loved that, I'm not complaining about that, I just think the DVD is overpriced. Even though we weren't even the market target to begin with. If I recall correctly the L'Arc~En~Ciel DVD in 1st Mariner Arena was a little bit cheaper but had the whole 16 songs and a bit of fan footage. and the quality was better.

I liked and disliked the DVD from time to time. And even though I love the memories I think there is something missing for me in music matters (that is at the end why I love them).

Of course they made me buy the Japan DVD because I want to hear those songs they didn't add live.. I guess that's what they wanted (at least the management xD)

I think it would have been nice to include all of the banners as an "intro" to each city. I did tell H.P. that hers was in VAMPS times so she did get some recognition there.

RE: VAMPS LIVE 2009 U.S.A (DVD)
*sighs* Well, I first off want to make it very clear that I am extremely grateful that there was a DVD for this live made in the first place. I wouldn't promote something if I didn't believe in it. That's to say, I wouldn't promote something if it didn't have good intentions. I know I've posted before about how we should all be grateful for this DVD....but I have begun to think it was a bit of a waste of money. I could have bought a L'Arc album and a single with the money I spent. But anyway, first things first. Here is what I didn't enjoy about the DVD:

1. The video focused a lot on fans acting stupid. For example, the fans running up to Hyde's van on the east coast and grabbing him through the open window of his car. The ignorant fans on the west coast (after the Hawthorne live) pounding and banging on the windows of the van. I didn't appreciate how this video made us look stupid and borderline...crazy.

2. I didn't appreciate the fact that the DVD was not region-free. Whether or not this is an error...I don't know. Either way, it sucked and it made trying to watch the DVD a pain in the ass.

3. I didn't appreciate the wasted unnecessary b-roll footage they included in some shots (i.e. the length at which they recorded the fight between those guys in NY, the police sirens, the U Haul shot, etc...).

I felt they should have included more footage of the fans at the autograph sessions. What about all the other fans that acted normal? The other fans that gave VAMPS stuff and were respectful to them? What of that? So, if people aren't fighting or acting stupid....it's not interesting? The concert was clipped as it is, but I felt they cut a lot of things that should have stayed. The L.A. show was a disaster on so many levels, especially on a personal level for me. I didn't get to enjoy the show I waited 22 + hours in line for because of the shitty sound at the Wiltern. And it's evidenced by the sound in the DVD.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about the DVD because it made me re-live the horrible experience I had. I had hoped when I bought the DVD, that it would be different. But, I was wrong. Of course, I may very well be biased. But, I hope that those of you who did buy the DVD, that you enjoyed it. I mean, the concert WAS good, right? Judging from the performances....VAMPS were amazing. However, by the time the L.A. footage was shown, it's clear that Hyde didn't have the energy he had at the beginning of the tour. He definitely wanted to go home. Of course, they were exhausted, tired, and definitely partied waaayy too much.

The tour was starting to take its' toll... That upset me. I remember there was a brief few minutes where I could see Hyde's face. I remember thinking about his life performances that I've seen on YouTube and such... Different. Very different. Again, this was probably for a number of reasons, but it was still sad to see nonetheless. His energy just seemed all...wrong at the L.A. show. And it's evident in the DVD.

I dunno...this is just me. Feel free to agree or disagree with me, as we do live in a free world. :)

Much VAMPS-love,
H.P.

I felt the same way regarding really insane fans or fans that acted in bad way (the car scene was funny because the guy didn't take the photo until the van left but all the pushing obviously made Hyde upset!)

Was it really necessary to add more fire to the "love" Japanese fans already have toward overseas fans? .. I guess not TOT

RE: VAMPS LIVE 2009 U.S.A (DVD)
Hmm, I don't have the dvd at the moment so I haven't seen the fan shots, but surely it isn't that bad? I remember seeing clips before of Japanese fans chasing their car so I don't see how this would make us look any worse than them.

To be honest, I do think fans behaving would be boring to watch. Concerts have a really exciting atmosphere and fans let their excitement overrun them. That's what I like seeing. I think it would be boring to see quiet, well behaved fans waiting their turn in line. I want to see all the crazy stuff.

But that's just my opinion. I'm not only a music fan, but I'm a music scene fan. I like the excitement, the crying fans, the people dressed up, so on. I like watching fans let loose. I don't think that makes us look stupid..it makes us look like other fans around the world. They do crazy things in Japan too.

I don't know about others, but if I was a musician I would thrive on that excited, crazy behavior. If all my fans were well behaved and easy going I would feel like I put on a really sucky, boring show XD

But that's just me. I like a little crazyness. I haven't seen any documentary footage on youtube so I can't see how bad the fans really are.

But I do remember in Baltimore, after the show they drove past us fans standing outside. Several people did go chasing after them, and the van got stuck at a red light, I think. Didn't seem too bad to me. A little crazy, but adds to my memories. (And it helped me find someone to walk back to a hotel with!)

I'm in the ny fan footage and while I wasn't crazy, I guess H.P is referring when they were leaving N.Y and the fans kept knocking on the window or pulling. Same with the Portland footage or now that you mention it I think it was Baltimore. There was this annoying guy that kept bothering Hyde and wanted a photo while they were trapped on the red light xD.
