This indicates that you weren't following what I was saying, but that's ok. The whole point of mixing is to make parts that are too quiet louder, and parts that are too loud quieter.....to achieve a good "mix" of sound. Unless his mic was turned off, they got it.
The volume issues would've most likely been with the PA system, traditionally which comes after the mixing board. Amps are loud, but mic'd through the PA. Vocalists don't have an amp. The PA is their amp.
Chances are the PA was bad or under-powered, and you were hearing their amps louder than the PA. Or something.
---------------
I could hear the band before them play and it was ok. However, when VAMPS performed, the sound was significantly worse. So, my assumption is that something happened during the transition from one band playing to another. I can't quite describe it.
Look, I understand the "mixing" process, but taping a live show for a DVD doesn't involve putting the volume so low that people can't hear clearly. It could quite possibly be that they lowered the volume too low by accident, and coupled with the Wiltern's already bad sound system, it proved to be a disaster. Again, there could have been a combination of things that went wrong, none of which I don't think purposely happened. To be quite honest, I don't think we'll ever know. :(
I had absolutely no problems hearing anything. It was actually the ONLY show I could hear Hyde clearly through the distortion of the guitar/bass. I know it wasn't that loud but then again it wasn't QUIET either. No my ears weren't ringing like in San Fran but I still had a blast none the less. I thought the sound was just fine personally. I still say it was for the filming of the show. Because if you noticed Exies sound was REALLY loud where as VAMPS was not as loud. *shrugs* I have no complaints about it. I'm just grateful I got to see VAMPS.

I was thinking about you last night, after a funny thought came to me. When somebody dresses up like Hyde, it's cosplay......but if somebody dressed up like KAZ, it would be KAZplay!

RE: impressions
awwwww yeah here we go. my turn to write something nice out of the mixed reviews here. VAMPS needs more love peeps and if you keep saying bad things they won't come back.
As for me at the Wiltern....IT WAS PERFECTION!!!
I camped out for a couple days and it was so worth it. Even though I got the sunburn from hell and I'm still tired from it. It was very very worth it.
Front row on K.A.Z's side! Right by my loves!
The opening band, The Exies. I had heard of these guys before and I had to no idea they were made of AWESOME. The crowd was so nice with them from my POV and I had an excellent time rocking out and listening to them play. Even when their guitarist had technical difficulties he didn't even get upset he just kept going. That's dedication to your craft. I wish I would have bought their CD while I was there. Also Ju-ken dancing and singing during their set was just full of win.
Now onwards to the main event!
VAMPS!
Holy shit! This show was perfection. I spent the last of my money buying tickets and paying for the trip just to see these guys and every single cent was worth it!
Being right in front of K.A.Z the whole time...just wonderful. He is so into what he does and is so talented. Also I loved that Hyde and Ju-ken came over to our side many times as well!
I mean I really can't think of one thing bad with this show. I could hear Hyde just fine and he is so intense! This show has left me looking up to him more than I did before!
K.A.Z...he is just so focused. And he is so talented! It was hard to take my eyes off of him. LOL
Ju-ken is just so good at what he does. He knows how to keep the crowd going and his robot crazy flail dances during Dolly were just too much fun!
Jin...I had no idea he was so handsome in person. And he is very serious at what he does. He looked very focused most of the time but still had tons of fun. Also he knows how to rock a mohawk.
Arimatsu is just an amazing drummer. Anyone who thinks otherwise just doesn't know what they are talking about.
LOL I kinda wish that Hyde and K.A.Z would let them all be official members.
But back to the show! I'm distracting myself! xD
The show was just amazing! You could feel the emotion in the air and you could hear the crowd singing along with every single song. I loved that they played Vampire Depression that's one of my favorite songs from the album. It's hard for me to really say what was my favorite song all night from the set cause the whole entire thing was just so much fun and so amazing. I also love that Hunting is more of K.A.Z and Ju-ken's song live. And when someone threw that little stuffed lamb up on the stage...and K.A.Z's WTF face was just so cute.
I do have to say that Jesus Christ is one of the most powerful songs I have heard live and I think I had the most fun during Midnight Celebration which is still my favorite Hyde song.
The MC's were so cute. Hyde's english has gotten so good and I could hear him perfectly when he spoke and I understood what he said. Please come back next year and ignore all the bad comments on here. You guys did great!
Also what topped if off for me that night was at the end Ju-ken "jerked off" with his water bottle and hit me directly. That made it totally perfect and I was really hot and sweaty so it cooled me down.
But yeah the whole show for me was just perfect. It was great being in the front and seeing them live. I hope they come back next year and I can go see them again and get to camp out with all the wonderful fans there as well. <3
