RE: Directions and other useful information

Heather closed her forum account a while ago. I'll try to help you out ^^!

1. You could try using a shared shuttle from the airport to the venue. I did a little research and Go Airport Shuttle prices are around $15 one way to Avalon.

2. For a cheaper option there is something called LAX FlyAway Bus. More info here It takes you all the way to Union St. for around $5. the Union Station FlyAway will get you to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. From there you can catch the Metro Red Line to Hollywood (15 minutes). This is the official website: FlyAway Bus

At least those are the options I've found ^^. I hope they are useful for you too.

Say, H.P., you still out there :D ? I'm trying to remember last year, and it seemed hellishly inconvenient, getting from the airport to the Metro and back. Anyone know the better way?

I thought I'd post some useful information for getting around L.A...Trust me, Los Angeles is a hell of a lot bigger than it looks, not to mention with 50 millions buses that go in every which direction. L.A., unlike San Francisco or New York, you really do need a car to get around. But never fear! Public transportation is somewhat dependable (and cheap), so that's a plus.

The main mode of public transportation is the METRO, much like the subway to those in New York. The METRO also now includes several rail lines, which are fast and also very cheap. The METRO's RED rail line (Hollywood & Highland) will take you all the way to the Avalon. You can catch the RED line at Union Station and pretty much every train station entrance in Los Angeles. Once you catch the RED line, all you need to do is get off on Hollywood & Vine (which is the stop before Hollywood & Highland) and once you exit the station, you're right across the street from the Avalon. You DO NOT by any means need to take the Purple line. The purple line DOES NOT take you to Hollywood & Vine. Please also note that When you exit the station, you will be on the infamous Hollywood Blvd. (a.k.a Hollywood Walk of Fame), so if you get confused and if you see the stars in the concrete, you'll know you're on Hollywood Blvd.

If you are coming from North Hollywood, take the red line (North Hollywood train) & you get off on Hollywood & Highland. For your convenience, I have included this phone number should you ever get lost in the L.A. area, which isn't hard to do:

Just tell them where you're at, where you're coming from & where you're going and they will tell you exactly where you need to go & how to get there. I really recommend that number for people coming from out-of-state or out of this country for that matter. In addition, please visit the METRO site here:

There's information on just about everything related to the METRO, including fares, schedules, trip planners, etc...

The AMTRAK is a nation-wide rail road system. You can take it to pretty much any city and any state. If you decide to travel between shows in California using the AMTRAK system, please be advised of the following: it is approximately a 6-8 hour drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco (trust me on that one). It will take about that long by train - or even longer. It is also approximately a 2 hour drive from Los Angeles to San Diego (just to give you an idea). For your convenience, here's the AMTRAK's website:

Useful phone numbers:

411: nation-wide information line

911: for those that don't know, 911 is the U.S.'s emergency phone number. Please DO NOT call that number unless it is an emergency (i.e. you're bleeding to death, got hit by a car, etc...). You can get into some SERIOUS trouble if you make a false 911 call (i.e. prank call 911). Most of you know this already, but again, F.Y.I
