Let's not forget the fake Hyde twitter That was/is lame x_x what bothers me is actual people answering him or her. Maybe they have a void in their lives they want to fill by pretending they speak with Hyde or something. Shouldn't artist role-playing without permission be illegal? =/

there should be some sort of ruling by the sites that if one is role-playing a celeb, or just goofing around, there has to be a disclaimer stating such on the site. unfortunately, some fans get so into the hype that they delude themselves into thinking these sites are real and everything spoken is verbatim Word of Truth.

and it is sad because there are a lot of people out there who will grasp at any straw to feel good about themselves. how great would they feel if they thought Hyde or KAZ was on their friends list? sometimes the easiest person to delude is one's self. plus, there's the possibility that the site creator might be 1) delusional themselves or, even scarier, 2) perverts purposefully seeking kids they can ensnare. i'm sure there are a lot of savvy weirdos who spend time checking into what kids are interested in and have made note of jrock fans by now.

i can't tell you how many times i've seen people quote something from those FB sites as if Hyde/L'Arc/VAMPS' had authorized them to give out the one and only truth. the reality is the posts from Hyde and KAZ are just copies of their official MySpace blog. but i did not see them labeled as such last time i looked at the site, which was last night and only the 2nd time i went there. but i recognized the blogs sure enough.

the contests and such may be a lot of fun, but one art contest was worded just like in Monthly VAMPS and would be confusing to a lot of people. it's a cheap way to get other people to be creative for you.

reminds me of a group of LJ accounts that were created a few years back for L'Arc, Gackt, Deg and maybe a few others. it was role-playing for fanfiction purposes, but they weren't tucked into a specific RP community. anybody could happen upon them and for half a second even think they might be real. that is until one new character broke character to address another about an issue. was an interesting tale they spun. it even was mentioned on the ARK bbs last winter or spring one. someone happen on them and asked if they could possibly real. they were from 2005 btw.

sorry guys, this is a subject that has not only bugged me, but as an older adult who's seen a lot of this world's nastiness, worried me as well. there are a lot of good people in this world, but there are also some f**king creeps who will ride their coat-tails and cause a lot of harm and pain along the way. D8

To me, fakes would be a lot easier to pick out if it weren't for the other people being sucked into thinking its real. I'm a bit of a follower more than a leader, so if I see that MOST people are doing something, I tend to think "Oh, then 500 people can't be that stupid." I mean, the VAMPS American Street Team MySpace looks just as official (actually more so in my opinion, lmao) as the official VAMPS MySpace, but everyone knows it's operated by fans, especially since comments usually are targeted towards H.P. as opposed to the various comments directed at the band like "OMG HYDE I LUV U!" or on other occasions, "HYDE GO BAK 2 LARUKU BCUZ I LIEK LARUKU & VAMPS SUX" like on that fake VAMPS FaceBook. (Granted, with the latter, I would love some more L'Arc work very much as well, but I can't stand it when people tend to think that HYDE "left" L'Arc or that any single member is responsible for them temporarily ceasing production, especially when they feel the need to bring down VAMPS, S.O.A.P. Ken solo, etc., artists and bands completely unrelated to L'Arc aside from the existence of one or more L'Arc member themselves, to convey their point)

To be honest, though, I don't think that the creators of these fake sites are malicious at all, but just attention seekers. I mean, why do you think people continue to upload VAMPS PV's and video diaries even after they've all been uploaded on the VAMPROSE Official YouTube Channel? Simply, desperation to obtain more subscribers, and the sad part is that it works. For some crazy reason, people seem to prefer to watch these things illegally and in lower quality over legally and with good picture quality. The same applies to everyone who continues to upload the VAMPS New York show that they downloaded from the same original uploader- because it gets them more subscribers. So the people who make VAMPS MySpace pages and FaceBook pages just want a lot of people to pay attention to them, nothing more. However, that's not to say that I'd rule out mamikochan's statements presenting the possibility of the creator being diluted or perverted, but I think that simple attention seeking is more likely. This can usually spawn from rejection of his or her own personal projects taken to the heart or lack of friends in the real world.

To be fair, I think some of these people intended to put a disclaimer saying that the page was fan-operated. In fact, the HYDE Facebook I ended up favoriting did, in fact, have a disclaimer that says it was not official, but ran by a fan. Sometimes people just forget.

And actually, I -do- think there's a law against impersonating other people, rather celebrities or not as it is a form of identity theft. However, if no loss or gain occurs on either side, the most that could happen is that they get their account deleted.

there was a spate of these phony accounts over on MySpace earlier in the year. several were connected to Miyavi and i remember reading about a lot of fans being hurt because they believed they were legit. some folks thought they were fans just role-playing, but when it goes to that extent or like on Facebook with VAMPS, L'Arc and the individual members, it's a dirty trick.

the ones who really fall for it the hardest and get hurt the most are the young kids, who see no reason why their idols wouldn't do something like joining a social networking site to get close to their fans. MySpace should be a lesson for all as it is seldom that Hyde or KAZ make a blog post. and J only does when they want to get some info out. i doubt they have the time.

i've always thought the FB accounts were fake because they were never mentioned on any of the legitimate sites. but then, i'm a pessimistic skeptic about a lot of things. ^^

I did not know about that had already been other cases of impersonation, I just knew that two months ago there was a course K.AZ myspace and many people thought was real and the person who ran that myspace was acting like KAZ


on what mentioned VAMPkito about that at the end of HYDE facebook says it is not official, I just saw it, is that not in a visible spot, like all this leads to much confusion.

^ True, it's not in a bluntly visible spot, but that's not the fault of the creator as much as how Facebook is set up. You can write things on your wall, but it's only going to be buried with fan comments, so the user put it in his/her "info" section as that is the only actual part of the site you can customize.

Yeah, Facebook is balls.

There is no "official" VAMPS Facebook page. The Facebook site Ai was referring to was the group that I had created for VAMPS and the VAMPS fan page. I was there with her when they interviewed her. When the tour started, I was working with her to help promote this tour and I told her about the group that I had created. I suggested that she persuade VAMPS' team in Japan to create an official site for them on Facebook, but it was never done. I hope this clears up any confusion. ;)

I'd also like to note that it's been what? 2 months since Hyde logged into Hydeist and almost a month since Kazu updated his blog. I just think they don't have the time to do these things. The facebook account is fans, I have it on my facebook and knew it was to begin with.

I also told J to try to erase the /doihaichirou twitter account that kept updating as if it was hyde on tour x_x even after the USA tour. As far as I know he said he was looking into it. I haven't check if the account is still there though.

But yeah I agree with Mamikochan and all of you about them not having time for that and about fans falling for it. The other problem is fans dragging more fans into it like a rumour. I remember how someone entered my blog and wrote in my tagboard about Hyde's Twitter something like "OMG he has a twitter come check it out". The girl spoke spanish and I didn't know who she was but I guess people in spanish speaking countries fall more for this fake accounts than japanese fans would for example (that have the news right there and more places to corroborate them).

You have no idea the number of rumors they create in here (one of the reasons why I left Jrock fandom in my country x-x). And since we are SO far away we can pretty much make everything up and it rolls like a snow ball without anyone saying otherwise.

For instance Hyde's getting divorced, child issues, gay stuff. God the number of things a single photo and a bad translated interview generates in most fans is SCARY.

I'm happy to have met down to earth fans this summer~ (of course there were also complete psychos.. remember "that one" Hedelex? T_T) but mostly down to earth and mature fans and all of them from this forum ^_^. For that I'm glad.
