It's not that we're trying to hide the fact that they are Japanese, it's just that we don't want to treat them like they're not actually musicians or, to quote H.P., "products from Japan." We want them to get the same treatment as any musician would get domestically, not treated any different, for better or for worse, because they are from a different country. A lot of people look at foreign music and don't think of it as music in the same light as they do domestic music, and that's what we're trying to take away. We're trying to give VAMPS the normal band treatment and make it understood that even though they are Japanese, they are still musicians just like the musicians at home. In VAMPSy terms, you could say we're trying to "break down all the barriers."

Oh sure! But I just felt like pointing out the fact that some people is still very very narrow minded, and won't see them as regular musicians just because they are japanese :-( But we can't let that defeat us ;-D

I hear yah, I've given up on American friends who have utterly failed themselves with regards to missing out on Japanese music over the years for the sole reason they live in their own little bubble and are afraid to expand their minds . Well, the biggest loss for those who didn't see Vamps live is not even hearing them on the radio or seeing them on TV as this 1st album is amazing and if it were an American band everybody would' have put Vamps at the top already, so there is a prejudice here and this isn't going to be easy to solve thus, I call for Hyde to bring AyuIcon_heart here as a special guest next time (OMG, I'm seriously f'n dreaming now >ROFL) !

RE: After the tour...
Well needless to say if VAMPS were an American band they would suck because 99.9% of the new bands here in America suck so bad. Their music is boring and their words have no meaning. Or its just a bunch of whining. Yeah...

------------------

That's not necessarily true. We all know VAMPS' music has depth and meaning, including the short English phrases. I don't think their "being American" or "being Japanese" has anything to do with their music. They are just simply talented, which is what many new American bands tend to lack - talent. I see what you're saying, though, but I don't think that if they were American their music would be any different. Well, except for the fact that it would be entirely in English. *lol*

I've already stated that I do not prefer American music either....at least not the newer stuff. I do think it is interesting that Hyde's favorite music seems to be American....lol. Much of what he mentions are the older bands, but they are still American....for the most part.

I was just using that as a reference really. I was just saying that most new bands in America have nothing to give you really other than crap. The old stuff is great, which I listen to often. But new bands now days in America have nothing. I wasn't saying VAMPS music doesn't have depth or meaning. I didn't say that at all actually. I didn't also say because their Japanese they have talent, I said American music lacks talent. And of course their music would be different, it would be American and have American influences more so than it does now. They have more influences than just American music, they have European and Japanese music influences. The Clash was a British punk band, Hyde has stated he likes them. What I'm saying is that since they are not American they are not being pushed into this you have to belong to a genre of music or what is popular now to be successful. Well I'm sure they are being told what kind of music to write but they are being rebellious and doing it their way. Much like Oblivion Dust does.

*lol*

I didn't say you said that VAMPS have talent because they are Japanese. I was making the argument that it doesn't matter what race VAMPS are, the bottom line is that they have talent, plain and simple. I was also just stating a fact when I said that "we all know VAMPS' music has depth and meaning, including the short English phrases." I didn't imply that is what you had previously stated.

AGH, I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE DX *head explodes*

But to respond to that, I'll have to agree that I definitely prefer the sound and lyrics of Japanese music a lot better, but that's not to say American music doesn't have talent. MAINSTREAM American music certainly doesn't anyway. If you ever listen to indie American music, you can see they work hard to put every detail into its appropriate place. Those are the kind of American bands I like. But mainstream Japanese music isn't without its flaws either. A lot of the times, mainstream Japanese musicians... yeah, somehow I have a feeling everyone knows who I'm talking about, lawl ... tend to write the exact same songs several thousand times. The popularity gets to their head and they become just a tad cliché, in my opinion. Sometimes VAMPS even fall under that kind of problem. But to compensate, they have a different way of expressing it and rather than writing about the exact same song, the song itself bears a completely different tune and tend to talk about different categories of the same topic.

So yeah, to put it simply, the more mainstream you get into with any culture, the less the talent will show, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it lacks talent. Again, check out some indie bands. They're usually pretty good. Not exactly great, but you can tell they put some effort into it. But that's enough of that. I personally don't think this is the right topic to discuss this in anyway. Lawl.

Read at your own risk:

Thing is, and I wish Vamps could know this, but we only have the power to do so much. I mean, putting up posters and handing out flyers is a great way to get the word out! It's really amazing that we managed to do all this. However, and I've heard Hyde say this, Vamps want to be big in the US right? So they need to be like an American band <--not sure if that's the right wording.

American bands are big in Japan, why can't the vice versa be true? Thing is, Vamps need to be everywhere. They need to be on TV, they need to be on the radio, people have to hear their music to buy their stuff/tickets. And we can't exactly do that. Well we can :) Calling up and requesting, but a person in power (manager, promoter, etc) would be much more successful than about 10 people requesting a song from a previously unheard of band.

Also, it would help if people could go out and buy their CDs in music shops and such. CD Japan is awesome but not a lot of people who've never heard of Vamps would agree to pay the shipping, etc.

HOWEVER, if we must do it for them we can! I agree with hedelex that free stuff is the best way to promote Vamps. Icon_3nodding Everyone likes free stuff. We must persevere in our efforts to get Vamps known here in the US! Icon_heart

RE: After the tour...
Its very intersting how VAMPS, sounds. They have a little heavier sound than the older 80's bands. Both hyde and K.A.Z like american music, thats the much older music. Cheep trick,Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson, The Cranberries.

I mean have you seen Motley Crues Video" Kick start my heart" the songs are very different but the videos are very alike, Icon_3nodding

Promoting them is very hard too, it can be done. It really can, but so many people think they are not worth the listen because they are from a different contry. There music is not so different, but the lyrics are more deep than many of the small minded bands. America has very good music fyi. Its the message that kills most of the songs.

There are some clicks that enjoy Jrock music. I tried to spread it around my friends, but most were shocked they were men. haha, i duno whyIcon_crying
So i just kinda gave up on them and moved on with other people. I think Hottopic is the best place. and other stores or places like that. Places that poeple are more open minded. Music stores are always good, because people go there for all kinds of music. Maybe Best Buy? The raidio seems like a very good idea. They are always looking for something new. Like just a year ago Tokio Hotel was playing on my local staion. Then again they got a lot of request because they were giving away prizes too. Free stuff is the heart to alll people. Flyers are good. but i would recomend logos. on things. Just one logo for every one to recognize them, because if we have multiple ones people might get confused haha.

I will spread the word all around Texas (:! Exclamation

ps. Maybe a official U.S.A fanclub? like local ones. im sure that will take alot of funds. but it might be possible? im just trowing ideas (x
