how hot was it in NYC?
i agree with the advice for the heat ^^ drink a lot of water!
Oh yeah! get plenty of water
i know that some people are afraid of needing a bathroom later, but you should be really more concerned about dehydration.
I went to Iron Maiden's concert last summer...i've got an energy drink just before entering the venue then i drank like 1 Lt of water in the venue itself. When the concert was about to finish, you could actually see a cloud of steam over your head and some people passed out; i was soaked and my mouth was dry, i drank lots of water and gatorade later...still i didn't pee till some hours after the concert ended.
Btw, my arms were nice "cooling appendages", i felt better when i raised them...i don't know if that works in closed venues, though.

RE: AFTER THE CONCERT!
First of all I'd say that all the advertising about camping out kinda ruined the line and turned it into mayhem because then people showed up way too early. The line went almost around the ENTIRE BLOCK. It was not fun at all waiting that long. I've never had to wait so long in such a long like and I was there at 4:30pm and there were MANY people behind us. It also tires you before the show. BTW the temperature outside was fine. But inside it got REALLY HOT.
When we got to the door, the security guy threw our water bottles in the garbage (thanks man). There was a fight but it was a couple of drunk guys from the bar next door.
There were a lot of interesting characters in the line, even mimes lol. Anyway, lots of asian fans which was really nice to see. I really had no idea that there were so many Jrock fans here. It was really exciting!
A lot of people stopped by to ask what we were lining up for.
Inside we went for the balcony cause I knew the main floor was going to get insane. And it did. There was so much pushing and shoving and btw there was NO MOSHING lol. Pushing, shoving, jumping, that's what it was. Moshing is an entirely different concept.
.There were no cameras allowed but I saw many people taking pics and many took video at the risk of getting busted/kicked out. I was one of them lol. I have to short videos but they look bad cause it was a cellphone. If anyone wants to see, it's from Evanescent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6KUk4JIBlI
I really enjoyed the show. All the guys were amazing, specially the bassist. His energy was off the charts I love him!! They did play Vampire Depression and Life on Mars? as well. They sounded REALLY good! HYDE's voice was amazing, hitting every note. His short talks with the audience were adorable and everyone was sooo excited and having fun.
As soon as I saw the black totebag with the VAMPS logo on the side I had to get one. It was only $5 so not bad. There was a crew interviewing outside as well. I met some really nice people. In general it was a night to remember! And I know they were impressed with the turnout.
THANKS VAMPS!

I somehow managed to survive in the 2nd row middle, but seriously come on! Pushing everyone and freaking out is not going to make the concert more enjoyable! I really just wanted to listen and watch and maybe dance a little (jumping etc). I'm still blown away, but I also feel kind of sad...
It is sad... that your greatest memory of this will be the pushing and shoving and moshing. Well... cheer up, Haidoist, you'll get ur second chance to enjoy in Baltimore. I'm seriously hoping it is a bit calmer. Though, obviously there are 100's attending the shows that aren't on this forum, and they won't hear our cry for "sanity" at the concerts.
Thanks for the post. I now know I'm not trying for the front in Baltimore, I'm just gonna concentrate on the meet and greet. If we actually get to stand a table width apart from them for a moment... who cares where you are at in the concert. Question... Who was doing the pushing and shoving? Was it guys or girls? younger or older? Or was it just everyone?
What is truly sad... is that concerts like this that I've been to (general admission), the pushing comes from the fans who lined up late, but still expect to get up front. That sucks, they show up like an hour before the show, enter the hall and bully their way to the front squeezing out ppl who have been there since dawn. These fans could be the nicest ppl in line, but when "push comes to shove" they become monsters.
I kinda feel like the insanity ruined it a bit- but I was shaking my head around too much ^^;;;; sorry for anyone who ended up around me... I tried my hardest not to hurt people but I know a few people's toes got stepped on by my boots T___T sorry~~!!
and I'm veeeery sorry cos I was one of those late comers- the only reason why I tried to get to the front (with some random guy's help) is because even with height enhancement (aka 4 inch boots) I still couldn't see ><... but I got up just a little bit... I feel bad that I did so tho- I tried to keep down after I got there tho for everyone behind me T___T I was only there for the encore tho and my cousin and friend left me... cos they couldn't take it anymore... I was just happy to be closer though ^^;;; I do sincerly apologize to everyone that I know I stepped on by accident... my boots helped me keep upright though... >.>

RE: AFTER THE CONCERT!
So they sold out in NY. Anyone know how many the venue held? Hopefully we won't get as crushed at LV and SD but I'm concerned about LA and SF. Thanks!

RE: AFTER THE CONCERT!
The concert was pretty great, but there was waaaaay too much pushing. D= The pushing towards the front wasn't too bad, but why did people keep pushing from side to side?! I almost feel a few times, and I almost pushed some people down with me. So about 3.5 songs in, I had to push my way to a calmer part of the audience. Eventually, I just stood by the doors and watched from the side.
I was actually downstairs for the longest MC, so does anyone remember the whole thing? (If someone already posted it, then sorry, I'll find it later.)
Hyde's English was pretty good, and they all had a lot of energy. ^____^ I was a bit dissapointed that they didn't play Mission, but they did play a ton of great songs.
Oh, I got on line at a little past 9 AM, and I was at the first corner. O_____O

RE: AFTER THE CONCERT!
First post here. I'm just going to type out anything that pops into my head. Sorry if this is incoherent.
I got there at 6 and the line was already at the end of the first block after cornering. By 8, it was double the size. I was surprised at how small the venue was upon entering. It really was a small clubroom with a bar at the back. I saw that the second floor, which probably had the best view, was already filled with people. My sister tried to get up there but was told they were VIP seats.
When the concert began, I was standing on the left side where the entrances were, near the middle probably at the 9th row. By the end, I somehow got pushed closer to the front, maybe at the 4th or 5th row. A lot of people ahead of me escaped to the back and many had to be taken away because they had cameras. I guess I'm lucky they got caught. My sister got pushed to the 2nd row. But even at our respective locations, we could barely see past Hyde's torso. We could see Ju-ken the entire time though.
The concert experience was generally enjoyable. There was a lot of pushing and swaying but everyone around me held their footing. I got humped and did some humping myself. The room got really hot really fast and even my jeans were soaked in sweat by the end. I felt bad for the small girls in front who couldn't take it. I also felt bad for the short girls in the back because they probably couldn't see past all the heads. Neither could I see, since I was standing behind a tall guy whose long ponytail went in my mouth a couple of times(it smelled too).
As for the sound, it was terrible to be honest. The music was so loud that it sounded like the speakers broke and everything was noise. There was feedback and screeching in most of the songs. I found it difficult to make out the bass and guitar. But maybe this was due to my position in the room. Still, I could hear Hyde clearly. His singing was perfect, like straight from the album.
About the members: Hyde was at the center with his rosy mic stand, Kaz played at the right, Ju-ken played at the left, and the drummer(Arimatsu?) was at the back. Hyde was his usual self with the usual look he's been wearing lately. He looked like what I expected but my sister, who doesn't follow Vamps, was taken aback by his beauty. During his MCs, he talked about pizzas the first time and something about being hot and yucky the second time. I don't remember any unusual stage antics from him, at least not anything he doesn't do at other concerts. I did notice he pointed at the crowed and twirled his finger whenever he wanted them to go crazy. He also grabbed a handful of roses from his stand and threw the petals at the audience. Oh yeah, when he splashed water on the audience, it flew straight into my mouth. I'm not sure if he drank from the bottle though. I was busy screaming since he finally moved to the left side of the stage, hence my mouth being open.
Kaz was pretty laid back as I expected. His top was of a black and white design. I thought he looked really cool whenever his hair fluttered while playing intensely. Ju-ken was definitely the most energetic. He interacted with the audience a lot more than Hyde. He was really good at getting us pumped and pumping. He loved to look at us.
The setlist was great. Vamps songs mixed with Hyde songs. Everyone screamed along to SEX BLOOD ROCK N' ROLL and HUNTING. EVANESCENT and HELLO got the most cheers from what I noticed. SWEET DREAMS was awesome too. By the end, I was wondering if they played I GOTTA KICK START NOW but I guess they didn't. There were also two encore calls. The first was in standard English but somehow the second became a Japanese En-co-re. I found that kind of funny. Maybe all the Japanese people started that one.
The concert ended at 10. I was loitering outside when the concert ended but left to get dinner. Maybe I should have stayed with everyone else. Anyway, my sister who was in front, managed to capture some short clips. Here they are.
