RE: I really hope Hyde doesn't decide not to come because of swine flu...
I wouldn't be too worried, like someone said, they already have all this planned - I don't think something like this would stop them. I mean, I live in New York and I'm not worried about catching it, even though there have been reported cases here. :p

The flu can be controlled is not like we are in the 18th century or something. The people that has died in Mexico so far didn't got the medical attention they needed nor they noticed the symptoms at an early stage. The worst that could happen right now is everyone going crazy and running around like headless turkey! that wouldn't help the current situation. Just remain calm and follow safety instructions to the letter.

The U.S. has not closed its' borders and people from Mexico are still able to come. However, they will ask you as series of questions at the gates and make sure no one is sick. Right now in the U.S. we're in the "pre-caution" stage. It's serious, but we're just taking precautionary measures. Also, more so because the flu season is ending, so they're hoping it'll slow down the virus that way too.

i think most cities are taking precautions. dad and i were just talking about this. here in Charlotte, NC they are screening passengers on flights in from Mexico. they wound up isolating 2 people who were symptomatic on a flight last night. if people use their heads and don't panic, this should pass by summer. the folks most at risk are those with poor immune systems and respiratory problems. Wash Those Hands, People!!
man, i just got a picture in my head of VAMPS and the audience all jumping around with masks on, decorated with drawings of fangs and such, of course!

RE: I really hope Hyde doesn't decide not to come because of swine flu...
The facts are that in the entire US; there have only been less than 30 cases of it. The state with the most cases of it was California with 7. Think about it; 7 cases out of all those millions of people? I don't want to jinx Vamps; but the odds of them or any fans getting it is low. Most of the people that have gotten it had gone to Mexico or been in California which is the case with the one documented case in my state of Michigan. Anywho, even if you did catch it; it's completely treatable. All the cases in the USA, the people have survived it just fine. And I've read the symptoms of swine flu and the common flu and they sound pretty much the same. I really don't think it's as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. We shouldn't be anymore concerned about it then we are the common flu which people catch every year.

RE: I really hope Hyde doesn't decide not to come because of swine flu...
More than 30 because it's spreading, but yeah most of the people either went to Mexico or came in contact with someone who went to Mexico (Spring break wasn't that long ago, eh?).
CDC lists 141 cases with 1 death (that baby from Mexico visiting Texas). Though I guess it's more than that because I read Georgia has a confirmed case but we're not on the list (though, the person was an out-of-towner visiting). CDC list updates once a day, I believe.
US Population is about 300 million, so 141 isn't too bad. I'm sure it will continue to spread, but outside of Mexico it doesn't seem that deadly so I'm sure a vast majority of people will be treated and be just fine.
Of course, if we get huge amounts of cases we're bound to have a couple dead people, just like with the regular flu.
Here's confirmed list: http://cdc.gov/h1n1flu/

RE: I really hope Hyde doesn't decide not to come because of swine flu...
The news media is making a bigger thing out of this than it is, I think. There are millions of people in the USA alone, they are predicting 300,000 to get ill. That is really not a lot of people when you think about it and we as citizens are more conscious about washing our hands, keeping our distance from those who are coughing/sneezing. I don't think it's really anything to worry about, no more than influenza is, yes of course the young/elderly/ill are going to be affected by it more easily than a healthy person but that's the same with a cold/influenza etc. I wouldn't worry too much. I, for one, do not want any of them to get ill but it is spreading to other countries as well so we should all take precautions no matter where we live.

RE: I really hope Hyde doesn't decide not to come because of swine flu...
Crap. I got sick 2 weeks ago, so when the alarms went off I ran to the doctor. I'm not healthy yet, but it was not A(H1N1). Still the air quality plus the usage of the damned masks (my nose bleeds!!) and the fact that we are not given any days off work for anything less than mortal...
Well, I think that might be a clue. Some people in Mexico died because we don't get medical attention on a simple cold or seasonal flu, besides, the medical insurance provided by Government arranges your appointment for medical evaluation about 15 days after you need it, so by then either you are ok or dying X-D Sad but true. Also missing job because of a cold or refusing to kiss someone's cheek or giving handshakes, rather than seeming a sensible behavior (not wanting to spread the sickness) is seen as being lazy and stuck up.
I don't think VAMPS might worry about getting sick, but sanitary authorities might worry about the crowd exchanging disease :-( Here in Mexico shows were canceled, even movies, restaurants... BUT hopefully by then the pandemia-epidemia? will be under control... or we will be zombies X-D
