Directions & other useful information
Hey everyone! How goes it? I hope you're all excited about the show at the Wiltern like I am. *yay* AND it's my hometown, heck yes! AnyVAMPS, here's some useful information for getting around L.A...Trust me, Los Angeles is a hell of a lot bigger than it looks, not to mention with 50 millions buses that go in every which direction. L.A., unlike San Francisco or New York, you really do need a car to get around. But never fear! Public transportation is somewhat dependable (and cheap), so that's a plus.
The main mode of public transportation is the METRO, much like the subway to those in New York. The METRO also now includes several rail lines, which are fast and also very cheap. The METRO's PURPLE rail line (Wilshire & Western) will take you all the way to the Wiltern. You can catch the Purple line at Union Station and pretty much every train station entrance in Los Angeles, except for Vermont. Once you catch the Purple line, all you need to do is get off on Wilshire & Western (which is the last stop of that line) and once you exit the station, you're right across the street from the Wiltern. You DO NOT by any means need to take the RED line. The red line DOES NOT take you to Wilshire & Western. Please also note that Wilshire is one of the main streets in Los Angeles and it is very, very long, so please be aware of that.
The only reason that you would need to take the red line is if you are coming from North Hollywood & you're trying to get to the Wiltern. You would then take the red line (North Hollywood train) & you get off on Vermont. Once you're are Vermont, you then board the purple line going to Wilshire & Western. Vermont is about 5 blocks before you get to Wilshire & Western, f.y.i. For your convenience, I have included this phone number should you ever get lost in the L.A. area, which isn't hard to do:
1-800-COMMUTE
Just tell them where you're at, where you're coming from & where you're going and they will tell you exactly where you need to go & how to get there. I really recommend that number for people coming from out-of-state or out of this country for that matter. In addition, please visit the METRO site here:
http://www.metro.net/index.asp
There's information on just about everything related to the METRO, including fares, schedules, trip planners, etc...

AMTRAK
The AMTRAK is a nation-wide rail road system. You can take it to pretty much any city and any state. If you decide to travel between shows in California using the AMTRAK system, please be advised of the following: it is approximately a 6-8 hour drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco (trust me on that one). It will take about that long by train - or even longer. It is also approximately a 2 hour drive from Los Angeles to San Diego (California is a very, very "long" state in case you haven't noticed). It will take about that long or even longer to get to Los Angeles from San Diego by AMTRAK. For you convenience, here's the AMTRAK's website:
http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentSer...k/HomePage
-----------------------------
Useful phone numbers:
411: nation-wide information line
911: for those that don't know, 911 is the U.S.'s emergency phone number. Please DO NOT call that number unless it is an emergency (i.e. you're bleeding to death, got hit by a car, etc...). You can get into some SERIOUS trouble if you make a false 911 call (i.e. prank call 911). Most of you know this already, but again, F.Y.I

RE: Directions & other useful information
Cool thanks for all this information I've never been to California or anywhere on the west coast for that matter so this helps out a lot. I have been to NYC and Japan though so figuring out trains and how to get to places shouldn't be that difficult but for people coming in from other countries it will be much harder.
L'arc~en~Ciel 20th L'Anniversary was amazing!!
THANK YOU VAMPS!

Hmm...that one, I don't know. However, please visit the metro.net website & use the "trip planner" function. Enter LAX as you starting point & the address for the Wiltern as you end point. If you have any trouble, call the 1-800-COMMUTE phone number. They will be able to better assist you in that regards.
Much VAMPS-love,

Yes, the gas prices here in L.A. have increased, so that's why they've increased their prices as well. Currently, there is no train that goes from LAX to downtown L.A.. In fact, I think they're working on creating one. Thus, the shuttle is the best way to go. It's heck of a lot cheaper than a taxi, that's for sure. ;)
