RE: VAMPS 5th Single "DEVIL SIDE" Guessing Game and Some Other News
Well, this is really interesting. It's really difficult to decide between the VAMPS and original version. The main thing that sort of disappointed me is it's more alternative, as opposed to the original which is very metal. So instrumentally, I think the original is superior.
Vocally, on the other hand, I have to say... no competition. They're both great, but no one competes with HYDE's vocals, in my opinion. No one. =x
Like all of HYDE (solo) and VAMPS' covers, I have to applaud them for keeping the Motley Crue feel while still having the courage to add their own twist. You would think this WOULDN'T be so hard, but very few musicians have this ability. For a complete contrast to what I mean, check out DJ Sammy's abomination of a cover of Bryan Adams' "Heaven."
But in all honesty, this doesn't even feel like a cover. If they changed the lyrics entirely, I would never know that they covered the music!
That's my opinion on the song as a COVER, now I shall express my opinion on the song as the song itself. Well, it's pretty amazing, It's upbeat, catchy, and very fun to listen to. It will DEFINITELY make great live material. For some reason, I picture it being very similar to HIDEAWAY, in terms of live. My only problem is that the part near the end where the guitar skips... well, it doesn't seem to fit. It feels more like I'm listening to a CD with a scratch on it. Maybe if they didn't make it cut off so abruptly or at least put some kind of background noise in between, it wouldn't feel so awkward and empty. But it's a bit awkward-sounding.
Now for another segment of mine called "Which one is better? The title song or the B-Side?" in which I decide if the title song of the single (this one being DEVIL SIDE, for instance) is better than the B-Side or the other way around. Also, the name is not that stupid sounding because it doesn't have a name, but you get what I mean. The thing is, though, they're both equally great for completely different reasons.
Now excuse me while I die from utter amazement @w@

it's different from the original version, but i love hyde's vocal here and the cryin' baby effect. they made the music so different from the original it sound so fresh and so vamps. and i can't dicide which one better

People outside of the VAMPS community must be watching the PV now for Devil Side. Some of the views have been deemed as inappropriate and a "mature" login is now required to view the PV.

I noticed that a while ago. No surprise. Even without the nipples... I mean, even without the breasts... I mean, even without the round lactating external organs of a female... I mean... ahem, even the original is still very suggestive and something that's NOT very child-friendly.
My only problem with this is that the YouTube Community Guidelines specifically say that YouTube is a place for all people at least 14 years of age, but you see how well they've enforced that bit. >_>
