HYDE - OASIS [DIST.] - The B-Side That Never Came To Be?
I was watching the 666 performances again and I remembered something... there was a distorted version of OASIS performed at the 666 Bodukan performance, yet it's never been released on CD.
Truthfully, when HYDE [Best Of Album] was released, I was sort of hoping that it would have this, but what we got instead was GLAMOROUS SKY [English ver.] which is still amazing, but I feel like we were cheated out of something. Granted, I don't think it's been performed since 666 and is probably not the most well-recognized song of the ROENTGEN album, but still =/
So what are your outlooks on it? Is it worth a recorded release or should it be locked away to the obscurity that it is currently subjected to? Have desires to hear it live on the... WORLD TOOOOOOOUR? Discussify.

Hhmmmm......don't know how to explain it exactly. It doesn't have the "feel" as to what he is performing now.
Locked away...no. Will he perform it? Don't know.
If he comes back the only song I REALLY want to hear that I didn't is Hello because he didn't play that at any of the shows I was able to attend. Season's Call would be nice, too.
Since they will be releasing new music, something that they played has to be dropped. I have a definite idea for one if he asks....lol. They could do a couple of encores to keep most of the material though.
But you know, he could stay on that stage for about 6 hours and I would be glad to stand and listen. :)

I don't mean to sound like a total noob (maybe I am?), but what does Dist. mean? (As in Oasis Dist. or Evergreen Dist.)

I disagree, largely because HYDE has, in any of his projects, has never stuck to one genre. Notice how diverse in sound the VAMPS album was.

Not always true. I'm not saying they won't, but it's not always true. Notice that very few of the concerts last year played DEEP RED. They might (MIGHT) have songs like DEEP RED on their new album that won't be played at all and thus put an old song in its spot. VAMPS takes good consideration into the setlist and will only play what they feel will be good for the live, which may or may not include the entire new album. Again, I'm not arguing against you at all, I'm just saying that it's not always the case.

It means "Distorted Version" (if you're unfamiliar with the term, it refers to the distortion of an electric guitar that is traditionally used [and by traditionally I mean almost always] in rock, so it means redone with a distorted guitar as opposed to the song itself being distorted). And you don't sound like a n00b at all for asking. It's not like it's something you hear everyday, plus there's probably plenty of Japanese fans who are wondering the same thing, lol. (Or maybe not, I'm just making that last bit up)

i'm late as i've not been around much for a longish bit.
oasis dist on 666 tour is one of my favorite distorted versions. i have loved it since i 1st came across it in a clip couple years back. but, that was one of my fav ROENTGEN songs anyway. i prefer the Japanese/english mix that was the original flavor of the lyrics. i would LOVE to hear it live or have it appear on an album.
that said, i don't really anticipate it because it has been so long and Hyde rarely does those songs, except the ones he used on the B-sides or C/W of singles. and you can taste a bit of Kazu's hand in those remixes usually. he and KAZ could easily arrange a suitable remix, i just don't expect it. that way if they do i will be overjoyed and if they don't i won't be disappointed.
as to what they will or won't play or what they did or did not...i don't believe i saw DEEP RED on any US setlist, but they did play it extensively in Japan's arena tour and i believe the Zepp tour as well. that was a pisser as i wanted to hear it badly. *shrugs*
like most bands, i imagine they will highlight new tracks, add a chunk of 1st album songs and round out with a few HYDE solo fan favs. but new stuff will have top spot or the list will be heavily weighted with those. a tour is for album promotion in large part. that may vary depending on where they appear.
US and Japan will be that way i think. but, europe, south america, asia...they might take a lesson from L'Arc's Paris and Asia shows for L'7 and all other previous overseas show, and stick with a heavy load of familiar hits and new stuff mixed in. think laruku's AWAKE tour in 2005 followed the next month by ASIALIVE. totally different, even though they were still promoting the AWAKE album.

Just to clarify something that seems to be subject of confusion, one of the question in the topic is if you would LIKE to hear it on the World Tour, not rather or not they will. D:

RE: HYDE - OASIS [DIST.] - The B-Side That Never Came To Be?
I was thinking he would release all DIST versions of ROENTGEN in each singles he would release under HYDE... but now that there's VAMPS, he stopped. We can't always get what we want. I bet some people are wishing he will release a EVERGREEN DIST. Japanese Version. Just my two cents.
However, there's slightest bit of hope he will continue such thing. I mean, afterall, he did do a self cover of GLAMOROUS SKY which was totally unexpected.

in a round-about way, i did answer that. but maybe my intent was too obscure. yes, i want to hear it - as it was originally in the japanese/english mix on ROENTGEN and/or in a distorted version, which the boys can certainly re-arrange from the 666 tour. it stands as one of my favorite ROENTGEN songs along with Shallow Sleep, the Cape of Storms (which i loved long before i ever saw Kagen no Tsuki or the PV), and White Song. i would give much to hear ANY of those live in any style/format Hyde chose. or really just any song from ROENTGEN in the original style would make me dance in bliss. i'm not that hard to please. honestly.
Evergreen is in a special category. and he does do the distorted version of it enough that i know how that would be live. ^ ^
and i don't mean to sound snippish or short these days. just going through some hard dang crap health-wise which is taking a big toll on my sense of humor. sorry guys. that's why i've been lurking more and speaking less.

Thank you for the explanation. I was thinking of every kind of dist. word - distance, disturb, distress, distill, distinct ect. - but not distort. :-P It makes sense to me now. ^^
