X-Japan: First North American Tour to Kick Off Oct. 1st? - VAMPS + American Street Team + - 07-10-2010

So, according to Anime News Network, legendary J-Rock band, X-Japan are to kick off their first North American tour in California on October 1st.

October 1st is also the date VAMPS are to kick off their world tour in L.A....Damn. Read the rest of the article here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-07-09/x-japan-details-north-american-tour-new-album

I think X-Japan is such an awesome band and they're really good to their fans too. I have a lot of respect for them as artists, people, and especially for their contributions to Japanese rock music. I just wonder, though, how this will affect promotion for VAMPS' upcoming world tour here in LA. There are still many tickets that need to be sold for Avalon Hollywood. I also do understand that X-Japan's plans tend to change quite often. I also know that the tour may not necessarily kick off here in L.A. either. However, what do you guys think? I'm thinking of sending an e-mail here:

I HIGHLY doubt this will work...but maybe perhaps someone will be aware of the fact that the two tours will start on the same day....and maybe they'll reconsider changing the dates? To me, it sounds like they might not even have the venues booked, but since they are announcing such things....I don't know. Also, I think it might be a little late now to book the venues, so....yeah...

Much VAMPS-love,
H.P.

Youch, it seems to me to be a bad idea to have two jrock bands start their tour near the same place at the same time. They'll be competing for fans.

=/ And sadly, I feel like X-Japan would win out and get the most fans, everyone seems to love them except me.

What were they thinking?!

RE: X-Japan: First North American Tour to Kick Off Oct. 1st? - vegetapr69 - 07-10-2010

That's not only the case. AmyPuffyYumi will have a concert in NYC the same day as VAMPS AS well...I think on the venue that the guys went last year and they were also invited to the anime con...coincidence?
I know that we shouldn't bash other bands because it's not their fault...but it'kind of fustrating.

Usually contracts have been signed before things are announced so I doubt dates/venues can be changed at this point.

RE: X-Japan: First North American Tour to Kick Off Oct. 1st? - alekzalee - 07-10-2010

As I stated before if those two bands play in LA the same day I would go to see X-JAPAN (unless I win the contest …but what are the odds, right?? There are very good videos out there ;). Going to their (X JAPAN) concert has been my dream since I was 12, and back then it seemed impossible (until 2007, when they reunited and they made me very happy). I Know I will not be able to travel to San Francisco or somewhere else because of school, so even if I would like to go see both bands, I just would not be able to do so. I know this is a VAMPS forum, and it is probably kind of rude on my part to be saying this, but the things I take into account are:
1. I’ve seen VAMPS live before.
2. I think VAMPS will come back in the future, while I read somewhere (when they had just started to do lives again) that X JAPAN’s world tour would be their first and last. (? - if someone can verify this -?)

X JAPAN has not announced where in California they will start the tour, but I believe LA sounds like the most obvious choice (after all the X JAPAN-related events lately). Icon_cry
Still, I just REALLY hope (even though it clearly states "Oct. 1") the dates do not coincide or they start somewhere else, so I do not have to choose one over the other and be a bad fan!! Icon_cry

Yeah...I've been thinking about going to Lollapalooza to see them. I'm here in the middle of the U.S. so it wouldn't be hard to make it to Chicago, but I have such an extremely low interest in American music that X JAPAN would be the only thing I would be going up there to see...and since you can't just buy a ticket for ONE show and have to pay $90 for a day pass it just seems extravagant. And as I've already made a serious financial commitment in the name of VAMPS and as I'm not made of money (despite what they may tell you about nurse salaries lol) it may not be possible. Still, if it's possible it would be worth seeing X JAPAN if it would be possible to do so. They're legendary and not seeing them when they're practically at your doorstep is just tantamount to epic fail in the world of JRock fans. We'll just have to see when the tour dates and venues are I guess...

Lol, am I the only one who doesn't care about them? XD I wouldn't go see them unless they were within walking distance and tickets were cheap as dirt. And I'd only go because it's a concert, not because I actually care about them.

I think this really sucks for VAMPS though. A lot of people are X fans. Jrock fans are already a minority so they'll be competing for the same small pool of people. And many have already seen VAMPS/HYDE before so I'm sure many people would choose X...

Sucks =/ VAMPS announced their dates awhile ago. I'm sure X didn't know about it when they started planning but after VAMPS dates were announced they could have changed something. I don't think it would have been too hard for X to just move that one show to a different date, like the day before/after. Or drop that first show and tack it on at the end. They would already have all the staff and equipment, would just need to pick a different day.

Bands have changed dates before, so it's not impossible. And I'm sure the venues want a full house so might have been willing to work with them to re-arrange.

Yeah I mean I like X and I recognize their huge influence as a JRock force, but I'm not super into them either. My first JRock band was L'arc and ever since Hyde started his solo act I have been devoted 100% to him. Not that I can't like other bands and appreciate them, but my Hyde loyalty trumps all haha. I would like to see X just because I heard they do put on a good show, but not at the risk of sacrificing my chance to see Hyde. I missed him during the Faith tour 4 years ago (had tickets and everything and I was an hour from SF but my aunt shut me down saying I was too young to go to the city by myself Icon_scream So I just laid there in bed thinking that Hyde was putting on an amazing show and that I was missing it). It is not going to happen again!

What were they thinking?!

Well, I saw Yoshiki and Toshi at Paris during the Japan Expo. At that time, I didn't know their music yet. BUT, even if their music is great, I'll NEVER give them any cents! Their attitude disguse(d) me.
They made the audience singing Endless Rain for 20 minutes (the show lasted 45 min...) and when the audience tried an ENCORE, we just obtained a song recorded in studio with light shows... These two divas didn't come again on stage. What a shame!

Some people had waited for them to come in France for years!!! I don't know if they're aware of the costs for buying CDs in Japan... (Customs: 3CDs --> 11 € = about 14$ = 1,230 Yens)... Well I'm pretty angry about the way they treated us....

That's what I really like with VAMPS, they're close to their fans.

Love you guys! Icon_heart

Definitely a bad idea, and not good for VAMPS. At least, GACKT comes to Europe but he chose different dates.
