Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - VAMPkito - 02-04-2010 With the quickly-approaching release of "Quadrinity," the album in which each member of L'Arc chooses their own personal 7 personal favorites, I figured this would make an interesting topic of discussion and all. So what are your top 7 favorite L'Arc songs (granted, they don't HAVE to be in any order, but I chose to do mine in an order just to keep myself occupied) and why? I know it's hard choosing only seven when there are so MANY amazing L'Arc songs, but you can do it! 8D - Remember, I'm only talking about L'Arc songs. No solo project songs please. As for me... 7. My Dear (from "AWAKE") One of my favorite ballad by L'Arc both musically and lyrically. It has a soft, but powerful rhythm and message that reminds us that love doesn't wait for a convenient time to strike, and it doesn't just leave even in troubled circumstances (or something like that), which as time goes by I begin to feel more and more truth to this. 6. That's What She Said... I mean... And She Said (from "heavenly") A very spunky, upbeat sort of song. I like it simply because it's just an extremely fun song to sing, perform, and dance to. Plus, it simply bleeds the 90's all over fresh carpet. Definitely one of their most fun songs. 5. Daybreak's Bell (from "KISS") Seriously, how can you NOT love this song? It's extremely catchy and if that isn't enough, it has a powerful antiwar message that isn't too preachy, but isn't too dull either. It's perfect and the epitome of a basic L'Arc archetype. 4. Natsu no Yuutsu ~time to say goodbye~ (from the single of the same name) Just to clarify, I am not talking about the version from the "heavenly" album. Specifically, I really mean the single remake that was made after the album. Anyway, this is one of the songs that really displays ken's amazing composition skills as well as hyde's simply fantastic vocal technique. The only song that comes close to this, in my opinion, is COSMOS. That is, in terms of sound. For a little bit towards the end, hyde does nothing but shout passionately into the mic, but something about the shouting sounds so beautiful and so melodic. The breathiness only adds onto it. The song is simply beautiful and even if it is just another song about a simple breakup, it doesn't feel quite as cliché as most artists like N'sync and pretty much every other artist I know makes it sound. 3. DIVE TO BLUE (from "ark") This is actually the song that got me hooked on L'Arc. Like many of my favorite songs, this one is very situational. Whenever I listen to it, it reminds me that the sky is the limit. It also has a very fun-loving rhythm that I've always loved about the late 90's L'Arc. 2. finale (from "REAL") I'm serious now. I've never once listened to this song without getting butterflies in my stomach. It's an amazing ballad. It's really sad to put it generally. There's really not much to say about it. Not because it's not noteworthy, but because the song speaks for itself. Even if you can't understand the message, you feel the hurt through the melody. 1. BLESS (from the single of the same name) I'm serious, now. I know it just came out a few days ago, but it has officially become my favorite L'Arc song. It's a relatively simple song, but there's a certain essence of heart in it that I can't get over, and it has an uplifting message much like DIVE TO BLUE, but it feels so much more direct than DIVE TO BLUE to me. It's an amazing song and officially my favorite L'Arc song of all time. NAO UR TERN. DO IT NAO. RE: Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - polarwhiteseal - 02-04-2010 1. snow drop 2. DIVE TO BLUE 3. HONEY 4. SHINE 5. KILLING ME 6. STAY AWAY 7. Driver's High really hard to choose lol. No particular order. RE: Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - cathb - 02-04-2010 Yeah, this is a tough one! Also in no particular order..... Anata Heaven's Drive Driver's High 4th Avenue Cafe Shine Finale Pieces RE: Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - Guest - 02-05-2010 RIght now I can think of these 7: Blurry Eyes Because it was the first I heard and liked and responsible for my Larukufandom. Niji Because it made me cry when I saw the video. Kasou Because the lyrics are a poem I really like. Flower Because the lyrics are incredibly beautiful and sort of innocent. Heaven's Drive Because it is very energetic and fast and I love the chorus :-p Loreley Because it is melancholic and very classy. Stay Away Because it always cheers me up when I am sad :-D (and in the vid Hyde is Rukia from Bleach) RE: Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - mrfear - 02-05-2010 holy shoes, my first post here o/ okay, here goes. there's no order. 1. Sai wa nagerareta ~ There's something about this song's lyrics, that really touch me deeply. I've always felt, that this song is about me, so it means a lot to me. 2. TRUST ~ This is probably one of the most beautiful songs by Laruku, honistly, no lie. Everything in it is just in pure harmony. 3. My Dear ~ Ouch, picking two songs from AWAKE, but My Dear is just as beautiful as TRUST is. 4. shizuka no umi de ~ Have you ever tried listening to this in a dark, otherwise silent room and your earphones on? It is so awesome it gives me goosebumps every time. 5. THE GHOST IN MY ROOM ~ simply just awesome. it's good-mooded, the lyrics are fun and I love listening to it. simply, it just is an awesome song. 6. Taste of Love ~ purely just genious. would you listen to that bass! 7. BLURRY EYES ~ ... the only single i picked. it's one of the first songs i heard (yeahyeah RSG was my first), and this was one of those that got me hooked to L'Arc. i owe a lot to this song ♥ damn, it was hard to choose these ;oo just wanna add that i love the entirety of the album heavenly. RE: Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - vegetapr69 - 02-06-2010 Great selection of songs! Here are some of mine: 7. Honey --> this is for me their "song", like "Thriller" was for Michael Jackson. Catchy and beautiful at the same time. 6. Blame --> this is a song that for me it's symbolic of their 90's music. I loved the sound and HYDE's voice. 5. Jiyū e no Shōtai --> Ken's guitar in this song is one of the most memorable of the AWAKE album. 4. SHINE --> the video itself helped me to love more this song...and lyrics are the best 3. My Heart Draws a Dream --> this is a song that it's smooth and motivating at the same time...everything comes together in such a beautiful song. 2. New World --> I love the strength of HYDE's voice and the rock-style that it's played it's awesome. 1. Daybreak's Bell --> For me one of the most romantic songs ever...EVER RE: Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - p s j s - 02-14-2010 Is difficult for me just choose 7 By the way... first niji because is the first song that made me cry hitomi no juunin jojoushi bye bye sayounara and she said blurry eyes RE: Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - VAMPkito - 02-15-2010 Upon reading some of these lists and listening to some older L'Arc songs again, I remember that there are many songs I forgot about. So because I'm a giant douche, I'm going I'm going to make a Top 7 List of Songs That Didn't Make It Into The Previous Top 7 7. Niji Because sometimes I forget that although L'Arc is predominately a happy-going band that sings mostly of love, they still have a disturbing side to them, which is what the song, specifically the PV of the song, tends to demonstrate. It's also very beautiful in melody and lyrics. 6. Vivid Colors A song that is just so glamorous and probably personifies early L'Arc~en~Ciel. The name itself and the PV almost define L'Arc's name for you ("the rainbow") and gives a feeling off feminine oddity that made them amazing. (Just to clarify, I do not criticize L'Arc at all with the word "feminine" and in fact, I praise them for it). The guitar makes a really beautiful, surreal sort of atmosphere while HYDE's vocals partnered with Tetsu's backup give it that fun-loving spirit that makes it perfect for both dancing/singing/strumming to as well as listening to whilst static. 5. Blurry Eyes Mostly for the same reasons as Vivid Colors. The carnival in the PV, however, gives it that distinctive background as well as HYDE's demonstration of all the fun and joys of wearing a dress. Like Vivid Colors, it has a sort of purity, an innocence to it, but nevertheless it also has this sort of emotional feel to it that always seems to break my heart. It feels sort of like a Disney movie. Not a newer Disney movie that is practically subliminal porn, but an older Disney movie. One whose innocence tickles you pink and whose emotions never cease to make you cry no matter how old you get (and whose sexual references you never understand until you're eighteen). Like The Fox & The Hound. I've watched that movie since I was just a little kid, but even now I've yet to watch it once without crying. (And I didn't quite understand that Big Mama was giving Todd advice on how to, quite bluntly, pick up chicks until my most recent viewing). 4. Jiyuu e no Shoutai The song is definitely a gem amongst L'Arc songs. It's different in that it not only has a bit of a harder rhythm, but also it shows more of HYDE's beautiful chest voice, which is something he makes constant use of in the AWAKE tour. The song is amazingly catchy but also very beautiful. One that deserves a lot more notoriety than I'm currently aware of its having. 3. Pretty Girl Unique in that it's the most explicit of any of L'Arc songs. The sexual innuendos really give the song... well it doesn't contribute much of anything. It sort of makes me blush and think "Is this really L'Arc?" Definitely not the INNOCENT type of song that I know Vivid Colors and Blurry Eyes for. Still, for that reason, it makes me laugh. Additionally, the song is amazingly catchy. It seems that most sexual songs are much catchier, aren't they? Is it because I'm a pervert, that I like what I'm hearing? I don't know. Either way, a rare gem (much like the entire "KISS" album) and great song. I love it. Oh and like Jiyuu e no Shoutai, it has HYDE's more chesty voice. =P - Now if you'll excuse me, I must wash myself off with the more innocent songs of VAMPS... like SEX BLOOD ROCK N' ROLL... well, maybe not that. More like LOVE ADDIC... not so much. But I GOTTA KICK START NO... well, we're getting somewhere but still no. Now BITE... oh screw it. 2. pieces Yes, yes. This song touches me deeply as I know what it's like to be sorry after someone passes, which is what the song seems to be about. I know what it's like to feel like I've hurt someone. It's a terrible feeling and this song PERFECTLY and I mean downright, utterly, completely, flawlessly, impeccably, and whatever other synonyms fit here, defines that sort of pain. The PV... well, I don't think it's quite as great as the song, but the visual metaphor with the knife is simply brilliant. The part where HYDE stabs tetsu always seems to give me chills and then when HYDE is praying for forgiveness at the church. Still, I think the overall theme is glanced over a bit. That is, the guilt as opposed to the incidents that caused the guilt in the first place. Anyway, smashing song. Powerful vocals, and the guitar solo is simply... fantastic. Can't think of a word to describe it. 1. flower Many artists use flowers (and other plants) as metaphors, and many artists, of Japanese nationality specifically, use birdcages as metaphors, but only HYDE does it right, it seems. The composition is simply amazing. It shows off HYDE's musical abilities in not only vocals, but less commonly used instruments like the harmonica. The lyrics are just downright beautiful. In a way, sort of obsessive, and a bit too much for real life standards, but nevertheless captures the theme of entrapment PERFECTLY (that is, being trapped in the past) and the many flower comparisons that are a used in a less-than-cliché way give the song a sense of beauty. The PV whilst not exactly spectacular in presentation, is simply adorable. Many people criticize HYDE's "dancing" but I find it to be the cutest thing ever (soooo not gay =X) and watching it always brings a smile to the face. ----------- Even picking -14- songs is hard to do. I feel like I'm still neglecting some great songs, particularly songs like Heaven's Drive, which is amazing in its catchy rhythm and lovely lyrics and very... "scenic" atmosphere. Another being Yuki no Ashiato, which is probably another of my favorite L'Arc ballads. It demonstrates HYDE's head voice more than his chest voice and beautifully at that. I don't know a single artist who comes close to having such a vast vocal range as HYDE. I don't even know of any woman who sing in such a high range as HYDE. Anyway, those are my Top 7 songs that did not make it into my previous list. So... yeah, now I have a top 14 >_> RE: Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - Hedelex - 02-20-2010 (02-15-2010, 07:24 PM)VAMPkito Wrote: Yuki no Ashiato, which is probably another of my favorite L'Arc ballads. RE: Your Top 7 L'Arc Songs - kotori - 02-22-2010 it's really hard for me to chose only 7 songs, I'm in the same troubles as many of you guys, but here I go 1- 4th avenue cafe this song is the one that started my Laruku obsession, since the first time I heard it I knew I was going to follow them forever 2- jojoushi The lyric is so meaningful to me, is definetely one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard 3- Dune this was the third laruku song I listened and it catched my attention since the first moment (and HYDE's dance in the video was cool :D) 4- heaven's drive this song is just incredible, it has a great rithym 5- Niji the first time I heard this song, I cried, eventhough i couldn't understand the meaning (cause I don't speak Japanese) it deeply touched me 6- kasou ahh this song has a cool rithym and the lyric is really beautiful 7- link I agree with what HYDE is saying in this song, the lyric is really meaningful and here are my 7 fav songs (and as I said before, it wasn't easy) but I love all of their songs, L'Arc en Ciel is one of those few bands that I love all of their work.
