Japan's music sales prevail, VAMPS represent! - Mme. H - 07-20-2013 On a CBS* news program, an item appeared this morning, about Japan's music sales surpassing U.S. music sales, in the non-digital, hard copy formats of CDs and records. When they cut to a Japanese music store – I think it was Tower – they opened with a full screen close-up of hyde singing in the Ahead PV, plus a couple more quick shots of the PV. Who’s hottest in Japan? We knew that. The news item talked about the Japanese valuing a physical copy of their music, and also visited a meet and greet for a girl idol group, Onion Girls (??), to interviewed some fans, men who were happy to say that they buy 10+ copies of the same recording, to artificially boost sales of their favorite group, as well as gain more opportunities to get things signed and meet them again. It was a brief appearance, but a thrill to see that VAMPS are even now invading mainstream media internationally. I could not find video for this news item, but for an interesting read about the same topic (sadly, no VAMPS reference), here's something recent from Billboard, the music industry publication: http://www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/global/1568815/why-japans-music-industry-is-booming-for-now (NOT the same source as the TV news item w the VAMPS video) *(CBS is a nationwide U.S. TV network) RE: Japan's music sales prevail, VAMPS represent! - vegetapr69 - 07-20-2013 Interesting article, I really think that these observations can lead some fans to move and ask for VAMPS so gas on the radio. This might be the chance that we were looking for. Finally the USA market noticed that they lost the crown years ago, maybe since 2000. And its noticed on the latest VMAs I mean, what more proof you might need? RE: Japan's music sales prevail, VAMPS represent! - Duliz81 - 07-21-2013 Well I´m so happy for that, shame is not the same here in my country, here I´m asking by my facebook page to ask for VAMPS on TV, Radio and magazzines, is pretty difficult because I don´t know why "fans" thinks that just "wishing" to find some VAMPS´s material they will get it.... like something magical :S RE: Japan's music sales prevail, VAMPS represent! - cathb - 07-21-2013 Great timing for VAMPS! Maybe the video will show up in an archive. Plus it spread the word that another country has rock bands. No, not everyone is aware of that concept. I'd read where idol fans buy multiple copies of a song to boost sales and rankings. The most I'd heard of was one crazy guy who purchased 114 copies of an AKB47 song. Thanks for sharing. I think in order to be effectively proactive, we need to understand the music industry better than many of us probably do, who are not working within it. There's exposure, how to introduce new fans to the artists and expand the audience, and there's how to find effective promoters and get them to support shows in your area. Also, banding fans together locally, apart from when there's an actual concert, seems very difficult for reasons unknown. That despite the strong online presences of this forum, street teams, and other online communities. As for where the music sales are, of course overseas fans are buying online - so ask CDJapan, YesAsia, HMV, itunes, et al, where we are! You know, I remember there being something in the air, in 2009, about not making it too obvious that VAMPS was a foreign act, when promoting them, at least here. My instinct was just the opposite. Frankly, I think that the Japanese have the 'cool' factor here. I wanted to let the whole city know, "Sexy Japanese Vampires will Rock You!" Who wouldn't go to check that out?!? |
