I really don't know the meaning of it. As Icey said he is very discreet about his personnal life, especially his relationships. I think the second option is the most plausible : he loved someone. But maybe he is really crooked and it's the way he sees himself... However I don't think he is like that.

However I kinda of thought that "I may forgive but my Hannya doesn't" would refer to Hyde. Something like:"I may forgive but MY Hyde doesn't"~~
