"music's breaking down all the barriers.." - well, that includes age. though i don't think there's anything odd about a 50+ yr old liking the music of a couple of 40 yr olds. practically the same generation if you think about it. and there are no age restrictions on good taste. ^_~ bno need to justify ^^ Age shouldn't matter. But I kinda know how you feel in that I'm 26 and I really like boybands heh. My favorite bands are a Korean group called Dong Bang Shin Ki (youngest member 22, oldest member 25ish) and then a Taiwanese group, Fahrenheit, (youngest member 22, oldest member 28). But I still feel like I get a lot of crap for liking them and I feel like I have to justify why it's okay. One of my online friends who's 19 said to me once that it was kinda weird because I get a bit fangirly over these groups and I'm 26; but I don't think it's so weird because we're close in age. Sometimes I feel like I even get judged when it comes to Jrock and heck, most of the artists I like are way older than me. *shrugs* RE: EVANESCENT - iceybabes - 05-12-2009 UM is this NOT the EVANESCENT thread? What is up with talking about other artists/concerts on here? Make a new thread please or post in the appropriate thread. This is off topic from what this thread is about. It makes the forum very messy if you don't post in the appropriate places. K.A.Z. RE: EVANESCENT - Billkwando - 05-12-2009 (05-12-2009, 10:42 AM)iceybabes Wrote: UM is this NOT the EVANESCENT thread? Conversations don't always follow a straight line the entire time. We have 2 months before the concert. I think the occasional deviation is ok. Here's a recap in case you forgot how we got here: Folks were talking how happy they will be to see Evanescent live, about the announcer's high voices before the Evanescent performance, about the age of concert attendees in comparison to the age of Hyde, and how (much like the lyrics of Mission), music crosses all boundaries, including age. We have a long time to go before the shows, and I don't think a little gentle deviation will hurt anybody. It's not like we're talking about football here. My suggestion to you would be to leave the moderating to the moderator(s), as I believe you may have been politely asked to do before. If you want to turn the conversation back to Evanescent, then by all means talk about it, but there's no need to admonish anyone. Some examples would be "Wow, Hyde's voice sounds nice, like in Season's Call", or "Wow, K.A.Z's glasses in the video make him look like Jackie O!".......and then naturally the conversation would turn back to that. The wrist-slapping is unnecessary, and I doubt anyone appreciates it.. Not everyone will read the whole thread to figure out why someone is talking about something else. We have no forum administrators (unless is Tokio), so she's just trying to help. Also is not like she's cursing you or something x_x RE: EVANESCENT - Billkwando - 05-12-2009 (05-12-2009, 12:47 PM)Usagi Hoshino Wrote: She's just trying to return the thread to the original subject. We have no forum administrators (unless is Tokio), so she's just trying to help. and I'm saying there are more polite ways to do that. She's been told, by Tokio, about the "report" button before.....yet she still feels the need to be the forum vigilante. This would be the 3rd time she's caught an attitiude about various things she doesn't approve of, and that's just in threads I've been in. Perhaps that's a bit of backstory you're missing out on? Maybe nobody will back me up here, but I feel that what she's done is force us further off-topic, and that my reaction was measured and reasonable. We (well, most of us) are adults here. There's a difference between "fan" and "fanatical", and certain people strike me as taking things too serious, like the fangirls who'll pull a cosplayer's hair for playing a character they dislike. Now let's get back to, uh, talking about how nice K.AZ's hair looks in the Evanescent video....before someone comes & yells at us again. It glistens like the sun! Edit: BTW we had only deviated by 3 posts, if that. Right where page 5 flips to 6. RE: EVANESCENT - Tokio - 05-12-2009 Okay everyone, play nice! Yes, threads are supposed to stay on topic. And yes they naturally deviate a little before getting back on topic. And many threads are a mix where part of a post will be on topic and part will be off topic (like this post!) We should try to stay on topic, though I'm not too bothered by going a little off topic every now and then. It's just how threads naturally flow. If posts go too far off topic and for too long then we can just reel everyone back in. But we should at least try to stay on topic. Edit: By the way, along with the buddy list we also have an ignore list. Moving on: Watching the PV and the live version again I think I like the live version better. Some songs I like better album version, some I like better live. I think this is definitely better live because it feels more...real? I think it will be great in a concert with better sound quality than my computer speakers. The emotions can just flow through you. It will be an epic concert song. RE: EVANESCENT - Tokio - 05-12-2009 Yeah, to me when it comes to concerts it's not just how the songs sound but also how they feel. It's an overall experience. I don't want to just hear the music, I want to live it. I kinda wasn't feeling this song at first, but after a few listens it grew on me. And after this TV live I'm looking forward to hearing it concert. I can't imagine how awesome it will be with: Live band +Excellent sound +lighting, effects, and overall atmosphere. I imagine this is one of those songs that everyone sways back and forth to. (with their eyes closed, while mouthing the lyrics) |
