RE: Recent strange messages... - Tokio - 04-27-2009

.net vs. .com is probably because the other domain was taken. Vamps uses vampsxxx.com instead of vamps.com (which is taken). And I think hyde used to use hyde-net.com? I'm pretty sure hyde.com used to be a company.

The sideways website isn't anything new, I've seen that before. Some people do it so that their website is different from the standard scroll down. I've also seen a lot of professional companies with sucky websites.

The @hotmail address, to me, isn't a problem either. If your servers go down, your email is broken. So, sometimes it's better to use one of the big email companies because there is a lower chance of email being down. I own this domain but I don't use @baka-koneko email.

And, yeah he could be using proxy or his ISP could be elsewhere but wouldn't he have to be somewhere close by? Though in his first email to me he said he was Japanese working in LA, which is where the company is located I believe.

Personally I'm not too worried. He has my address and what I go by (not my real name). And if I start getting weird charges (though I don't use a credit card) then I'll just hunt him down and beat sue him or something.

I'm not worried either and personally I never have been "worried" about him hunting me down or using a credit card or anything like that I just found it weird we were suddenly getting private messages from someone wanting our addresses. But since the website is based out of Japan and his IP is showing up in CA everything he has told us seems to be the truth so far.

I gave him my PO Box address and email address so I guess now we just have to wait for a reply from J or to see if we really do get anything in the mail. I think the worst thing that would happen to any of us if he isn't real is we would end up getting a lot of spam mail.

I never use domain emails either I have a couple of domains myself I always use my ISP email address unless i am emailing someone professionally then I use the domain email because it just looks better and to me more professional. Using a web based email especially one such as hotmail just seems unprofessional to me.

RE: Recent strange messages... - mamikochan - 04-27-2009

well, i got those messages too and should have checked in to see what was up. was just too lazy/worn out to try. i guess it's just as well since there's still a lingering question. would be nice to have the goodies.

i would think there has to be some legitimacy, how else would he find out about this site unless through J or MySpace? and for so many of us to have gotten these requests, they had to have used the member list. right?

i'll just wait and see what answer you guys get from J and for the ones who responded, from the Toshi-man himself.

i do remember J or H.P. saying something about a guy in CA would be getting in touch in either one of the 1st posts here or the post on MS where he mentions this forum. so no one has gone bonkers. ^ ^

RE: Recent strange messages... - tracycoder - 04-27-2009

He said on one of the blog posts and I quote

"Finally, official banners and flyers will be coming soon! When they are released, I am hoping to see the most fantastic deployment of fan promotional participation ever! Make me proud! This is the year we show the world that Japanese bands need to be touring the WORLD more! Viva la VAMPS!!!"

So maybe this is what he was talking about. The things this guy is supposed to send us is for promotion which if its legit is awesome I will do everything i possibly can to help promote VAMPS. All of the major colleges here have Japan clubs, anime clubs etc I could get some students to hang up flyers etc there.

RE: Recent strange messages... - VAMPS + American Street Team + - 04-27-2009

Yeah, I gave him my e-mail address & nothing more. I would, of course, be ecstatic to help promote VAMPS. However, I wish J would've mentioned something beforehand. Granted, I know he's busy, but I'm sure they've hired this person weeks ago, if he is in fact who he says he his. I just checked MySpace and J hasn't read my message yet. Obviously, it may be a while being as how he's in Spain. But the fact that we're all here just kinda' wondering, makes me feel like there is a lack of communication somewhere. I'm not blaming anyone or pointing any fingers, I'm just stating my opinion. We shouldn't have to read between the lines in old messages. AnyVAMPS, like I said, I'll keep you guys posted.

Of course, there is a very high possibility that this person is in fact legitimate and we've all worried for nothing. I would much rather that be the case, but until then, we'll just have to find out. If you choose to give this person your address, by all means go ahead. Just please exercise caution, as most of you already know. Ok, that's my disclaimer & it's back to work for me. Have a good one!

Much VAMPS-love,
H.P.

My anime club does not like Jrock and it makes me veryvery sad. They know the "Girugamesh" guy from that Sakuracon commerical, but don't care who Girugamesh actually are. When I told them about Jrock, one guy said, "Why do I want to listen to music I don't understand?" which makes me headdeskx3204890238 BECAUSE YOU WATCH ANIME YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, RIGHT?! ;_____; [/off topic]

But yeah, I'd promote anyway I could~ I would totally do like I did for promoting MUCC in December and just leave flyers everywhere - Kinokuniya in NYC, local Hot Topics maybe, where ever. (: Anything to try and promote them. \m/

That is very sad and those people don't have a clue what they are missing. Your ears may not understand the music....but your soul definitely does. That is the way I look at it anyway. And I know who owns my musical soul.

RE: Recent strange messages... - Hedelex - 05-01-2009

I got this message a couple of weeks ago (before flu thing and before I read this warning X-D) And answered that since I live in Mexico, It would be a little hard to convince people to go to USA :-p Some mexican pals planned to go but are now most likely unable since they have no VISA and appointments on the Embassy are suspended due to flu, so I didn't consider it useful to give my address. This person was very nice and thanked me for answering. I'm puzzled, though, I still don't fully understand the idea.

the flu thing really is making some impact, and may be affecting J and MONORAL in Europe. i saw last night where another show has been canceled. in Montpelier, France this time.(the Spain shows were related to problems with the promoter, hope VAMPS doesn't run into these difficulties.) with the timing of this cancellation, you wonder if it's flu related since other appearances by Japanese artists are being canceled with that as a listed reason. (LM.C/Pony Canyon management/A-kon for example.) whatever the reason though, and J stated he could not elaborate at this time, he would be tied up right now trying to deal with that situation. i'm sure this is why there hasn't been much response from him of late.

side comment. it just seems like there has been an awful lot of miscellaneous problems being encountered by various bands this year that is necessitating cancellation of shows, postponements and such like. it's sad because so many more are trying to look outside Japan now, but are encountering so many roadblocks.

RE: Recent strange messages... - Noctilca - 05-08-2009

Just curious - has anyone heard any more about these messages or toshinyan? Or gotten anything in the mail?
