I vote for layout #1. It just seems more logical to me.

Use the voting poll on top as well, so Tokio doesn't get a headache Icon_blaugh

RE: Forum Language Layout VOTE - Mme. H - 03-07-2010

To make the case for layout #2, when we start discussing the different play dates, everyone will get to see all the subject headers and new posts for that play date grouped together, on the same screen, in the same section.

And if we get translation, English speakers will be able to read posts anyway, no matter what language they were originally written in. So why have to go to more than one forum, to see all the posts on that one topic?

RE: Forum Language Layout VOTE - kitty - 03-08-2010

I SAY Layout 2 IT MORE ORGANIZED :3

RE: Forum Language Layout VOTE - iceybabes - 03-09-2010

I agree. Layout 2 is more unified and together. If I can do anything I'd be happy to help. (Just an FYI :3)

Re: Translations

You guys are kind of confusing me on this. Are you saying you want the moderators to translate EVERY post into English? That seems a bit much. There might be 10 different languages and hundreds of posts. Then to be fair they would also have to translate all the English posts into all the other languages for the other people. That would be an insane job.

So, no no, I don't want moderators translating everything. I'll have them translate news and important posts but there is no way they can translate everything for everyone. If someone makes an interesting post then they are free to translate it if they feel it's important to everyone.

But for easiness we'll keep the languages divided. That way someone who speaks German only doesn't have to filter through a bunch of Spanish posts and so on.

(Man, I'm installing new languages and testing them out. It is so weird trying to post when I have my settings on a different language. I keep having to guess what the buttons say XD)

Ok Tokio, however you say, we will all cooperate n_n

^^

Ideally, it would be nice to be able to translate everything, but it's just not feasible in the real world. Such translations would be a full time job (keep in mind, mods don't get paid), and it would be chaotic. At the moment we have 9,854 posts, and who knows how many more we'll get.

I think even with the languages given their own section, everything will still work out. There will be some cross posts by bilingual users I'm sure...and if a good idea is posted in another language then anyone is free to translate it to share with others.

Although, I will add a Google Translate toolbar thing, so if people are curious they can run the foreign sections through the translator and get a rough idea as to what others are talking about.

SPEAKING OF TRANSLATIONS

If anyone is feeling ambitious it might be nice to translate the first post of the poll into other languages and post them..somewhere..so that foreign fans can vote also.

If you do translate the post then please give me the link to where it is and I'll post the link on the first post. You can post a translation here..or in the International section...or on another foreign forum..or wherever. (make sure you mention what language the translation is in)

Not required, but it might be nice for non-English speakers to be able to vote as to which way they prefer.

Title : Diseño del foro de idiomas - VOTEN - (That will be VOTE as an action not a noun)

Ej:

Idioma A
--- Chat General
--- Fecha 1
--- Fecha 2

Idioma B
--- Chat General
--- Fecha 1
--- Fecha 2
