Okay, now for my unwelcome two-cents.

I'll be honest. I didn't like I'm so happy when I first heard it, so I wasn't expecting much from an acoustic version. When I heard the first verse I thought "Heh, this is really good," but it went all the way downhill from there. I'm not even exaggerating when I say it literally sounds as if they placed a mic in front of HYDE while he was vomiting in front of the toilet.

I'm just about to believe that they did it as a joke. You can't possibly expect me to believe that they listened to the song and thought "This is great! Put it on the record!" I'm trying to be lenient here, but I don't see any other excuse except deliberately trying to make the worst song they could.

With that said I really can't believe I'd say that about any song by them, and I don't mean to start a flame war or anything, but really. I just can't believe it's an official song by L'Arc. Anyway, that's enough of that. Hope whatever new songs come next are better.

(But I re-emphasize, the verses are really good... it's everything else that's... not too great)
I didn't listen to it last night when all of the comments started so I was expecting a big load of shit when I heard it this morning.

I don't get the comments where people say it is only hyde and a keyboard. There are definitely drums in there. Perhaps a bass, but it is hard to tell.

After reading all of the comments and opinions, you can put me in the .04 percent who actually like the song.
I actually do kind of like it. Someone mentioned it may be a song about an abusive relationship and that could explain Hyde's desperate voice.

Also, I do at least hear a bit of drums in the background. Maybe they'll do a live performance and then we can see what the instruments the boys are playing, Im' sure it's more than just Hyde and keyboard.

I guess when you put in that context, it certainly does sound in character. It doesn't make for good song material, though. At least, not in my opinion.

Interesting that person should mention it being about such a relationship, though, as I would never have thought of that. Looking at Megchan's translation I can actually see how this song could be about just that. Sort of changes my perspective on both the acoustic and original versions of the song, though I still don't like the sound for either of them.

Now, I don't like the song myself, but people are seriously criticizing it because it's just HYDE and a keyboard? I mean, perhaps there's a point that I'm missing here, but I don't see that as... well, a reasonable criticism.

1) The percussion section is definitely there, completely audible. At least to me. I don't know if an actual bass is present, but there is a lower-pitched instrument there that you can just barely make out.

2) Lots of songs are just keyboard/piano with a singer. It's not unheard of for some singers to make careers out writing songs with no instrument other than the piano, however most of said artists are classical or otherwise no longer culturally relevant. Still, though, even some more modern artists have made some fantastic products with only keyboard and vocals. One example is the live piano version of Gackt's Last Song, which in itself is my favorite song by him but this particular version is, in my opinion, at least 1000 times better than the original version. There's just so much passion and emotion to it.

I mean, I guess I can understand if they were to say that the keyboard and vocals were just... not good. (Although if this were released as an instrumental, I think it would be 500 times better) But I don't quite understand the criticism of "it's just keyboards and HYDE," as though that in itself makes it bad. But you know, to each their own opinion, I suppose. I've not been paying too much attention to what other people have been saying about it outside this forum, so maybe I'm missing something.
I wasn't a fan of I'm so happy and not to keen on this version either although i would like to point out that this song was played live because I remember seeing it on a recent setlist which pretty much means that it's not just a keyboard and if i had to guess ken would be the actual one playing the keyboard because he does that on a couple of other songs and then tetsu on bass and yuki drums. Also they've played L'Acoustic versions of kasou and jojoushi so i guess those will be on the next 2 singles hopefully because I really like those songs
I don't think it's the greatest song ever, but I still like it for some reason.

About it being 'hyde + keyboard' complaints, I think people are upset because they can't hear the other band members and it is supposed to be L'Arc not just Hyde. I'm sure they're there though.

Either way, I'm excited L'Arc has been on the move. It's been awhile.
according to the liner notes, it is a Mari Sasaki on keyboard and i bet the drum is a keyboard effect as it is too simple to be yukki. no mention of anything else except produced by hyde, words and music by hyde. really did sound like a demo version to me at first.

not gonna lie, was looking forward to something more like the old 1996 Tanabata tv special acoustic. not hyde and a keyboard. and he changed some of the lyrics. now he appears to be appealing to Kami-sama to not kill him just yet rather than a lover, as in the original. i don't have a translation, just what i read on lj and i can hear the difference.
I really liked it. I think the original is better thought
